Sacrament of Baptism The Sacrament of Baptism is ordinarily celebrated the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 1:15 pm. To schedule Baptism, please call the Parish Office, at least one month in advance.

Sponsor Letters/Requirements The following is required by Canon Law to be a Catholic Godparent/Sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. Be at least 16 years of age. Have completed the Sacraments of Initiation. (Baptism, Eucharist & Confirmation) If married, have a marriage that is canonically valid and recognized by the Catholic Church. Be a registered and active parishioner living a life of faith. You must be registered with our parish for at least 3 months before we will provide a sponsor letter. Although you may have registered with our parish, if you are not attending Mass regularly and using the envelope system there is no way for the parish office to confirm regular Mass attendance. Please contact the Parish Office to confirm your status with our parish.

Helping Hands

Helping hands is in need of can ravioli, assorted beans can chicken, oatmeal, can fruit, pancake flour, syrup, coffee, tea, jelly (we have plenty of peanut butter), baby wipes, baby cereal & toilet paper.

We would like to thank all of you, for what you have donated to our pantry. Your donations have helped to put more food on the table of many needy families. If you know of anyone who is in need of our food pantry, please don’t hesitate to tell them, we are at the parish hall on Mondays from 10AM-1PM and Saturdays from 10AM-12PM

Vigil Light Prayer

Lord, May this candle be a light for You to enlighten me in my difficulties and decisions. May it be a fire for You to burn out of me all pride, selfishness and impurity. May it be a flame for You to bring a warmth into my heart towards my family, my neighbors and all those who meet me. St. Vincent DePaul The Diocesan Council of the St. Vincent de Paul Society has established a new venture that will provide gently used, quality furnishings and household goods for our neighbors in need. VINCENT'S LEGACY will launch in Monmouth and Ocean Counties and eventually expand to serve families throughout the Diocese. While the local conferences will staff this new ministry, the Council is inviting everyone interested in helping in this effort to e-mail them at furniture@svdptrenton.org. The estimated time of commitment would be approximately 4 hours, one Saturday per month. High school students in need of community service hours will be welcomed. This newly established furniture ministry has entered a contest to win $100,000 to fund this important project.

Emmaus Men’s Group

The Emmaus Men’s Group of Epiphany is a ministry for today’s Catholic man. It is a Catholic Men’s Fellowship Group that exists to serve and bring together men to strengthen their faith. The group will meet on the second Saturday of each month from 9 – 11AM.

Why Should I use weekly envelopes? The use of envelopes is important, they document your active participation in the faith life of our parish. This information is needed in order to obtain a Letter of Eligibility to be issued when you are asked to be a baptism or confirmation sponsor. This also facilitates the preparation of a statement of contributions for income tax purpose.

Summer Religious Education

The Summer Program is offered to our parishioners as an alternative to the traditional once a week class format that is held September through May.

Upon registration, the 2016-2017 tuition is to be current. Tuition for the summer 2017 program must be paid in full at time of registration.

Before committing to the Summer Program, please carefully read the requirements outlined in the registration packet which have been mandated by the Diocese before registering.

Parents and students are required to attend three (3) one hour catechetical sessions that will be held during the Advent, Lent, and Easter Season.

Please keep in mind there will be no make up dates available.

Religious Education Registration Early Religious Education Registration will begin February 7, 2017 through May 21st for the 2017/2018 school year. This year registration will take place either in the Religious Ed Office or on Tuesday evenings at the Middle School during Religious Ed. Register early by May 21st so that your family can receive the $50 tuition discount. Please visit our website for 2017/18 Tuition Fees.

In order to register for 2017/18 we are asking that at least 75% of your outstanding 2015/16 tuition be paid and/or is current. When registering your child for the upcoming year, a $30. per child deposit is required which will be applied to the 2017/18 tuition. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Religious Ed Office.

Children’s Book Drive

Girl Scout Troop 60028 & Epiphany Church is proudly sponsoring a book drive benefiting the bridge of books foundation, a non-profit organization providing books to underprivileged and at-risk children across NJ! VBS: A Summer Camp for Kids Join us for Maker Fun Factory: Created by GOD Built for a Purpose

What is VBS? VBS is a week long summer camp for kids.

Each day campers will participate in outdoor games, science experiments, arts & crafts, music & dance, story time, and snacks. Check us out at Epiphany’s website under the Faith Formation tab and VBS for more information and pictures.

Youth Participation at Mass In an effort to allow our younger brothers and sisters to be more involved in the Liturgical life of our parish we are inviting any young person who would like to help with the ushering at Mass. We are also making a concerted effort to have the young people of the parish be the ones to bring the gifts forward at each Mass. If any young person wants to help out in this way please see either one of the ushers or greeters.

Gospel: John 20:19-31 After his resurrection, Jesus appears to his disciples and gives them the power to forgive sins. Thomas, who is absent, sees Christ later and believes in His resurrection after feeling His wounds. Christ admonishes Thomas by saying, “You became a believer because you saw Me. Blessed are they who have not seen and believed.” “They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers… All who believed were together and had all things in common… Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes… and every day the Lord added to their numbers.” Such a description seems ‘too good to be true’ but this is the description of the first disciples of the Lord. The teaching of the apostles, the kerygma, telling of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory gave their discipleship new meaning. Like a family, they formed a support group, sharing joy, as well as fears, anxieties and triumphs because Christ was alive. The Eucharist became the common bond, uniting them with Christ and one another. Prayer became a binding force. Can I not see that my life in my parish, my small group, is a mirror of those described by St. Luke or of those gathered in the upper room? Can the presence of Christ in my life, lead me to recognize His presence in others? Can I truly believe that I am not alone in my faith and move from ‘God and me’ to ‘God and we?’ On Divine Mercy Sunday, it can happen.

Super 50/50 The Super 50/50, which is drawn on the final day of the Feast of the Assumption, paid $5912.50 last year and was split among 3 winners. This year’s prize, which will hopefully be even higher, will be paid in its entirety to only one winner. Might that winner be YOU? You should have received your tickets and family sponsorship form in the mail and we hope you will choose to participate. If there are any questions, please call the parish office.

This years super 50/50 is currently up to $1655, $827.50 to the winner! Could that lucky person be you?

Raise the Roof! We met our first goal for the church roof. Thank you to all of those who have made donations to our Raise the Roof Fund. As of 4/19 we have raised $55,464.50. If you would still like to make a donation for our second roof, Raise the Roof donation forms can be found in the Commons Area

John Kearns Scholarship Knights of Columbus Epiphany Council 8160

John Kearns was a man who dedicated his life to assisting others, always willing to share his time & perform charitable works. In recognition of this extraordinary life, the Knights will award two $500 scholarships, one to a current 8th grader who will attend a Catholic High School and the other to a current High School senior going to any college. Current Epiphany parishioner’s immediate family and grandchildren are eligible. For more information please see handout on table in commons area.

The meetings will take place on the third Thursday of the month in the All Purpose Room. The discussion will be

Before you “regift” that unwanted gift, please consider donating it for the Epiphany Parish upcoming Gift Auction fundraiser. That unwanted Nutcracker or 100th bottle of lotion is just the type of stuff that we are looking for! You can bring any gifts you have to the Religious Education Office. We are also in need of any baskets you may have received and would like to donate. Please remember all gift must be NEW with tags.

Garden Committee

If you have a little time, can fix a fence, remove brush…We need you! Spring has sprung and now is the time to spruce up our parish grounds. We’re seeking parishioners to help enhance our parking lot by removing the brush, fixing the fence and planting flowers and shrubs. Whether you have a green thumb or not, we invite you to bring your gardening and pruning tools to help with this effort. Calling All People of Epiphany!

Reminder, we will gather as a community the second Wednesday of each month. As you know, the Church of Epiphany has been put to the test and now it’s up to the people of the parish to respond. If our theme is “Epiphany is people” then now is the time to fulfill it. Our gathering is one hour of prayer which is not too much of a sacrifice. So, I hope to see all of you on May 10th at 7:00PM. Interfaith Hospitality The Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary of providing shelter and supportive services to homeless children and their families on Saturday May 6, 2017 at noon at the Toms River Country Club. Please join us as the IHNOC honors their volunteer host coordinators and inducts Patty Cash, Kevin Downing, and Rita Kearney into the IHNOC Legacy Society. Tickets are $40.00 each and includes lunch.
