TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAYIN ORDINARY TIME
October 13, 2019
ST. MARY’S CATHEDRAL COVINGTON, KENTUCKY
Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time: Reading I: 2 Kings 5:14-17; Responsorial Psalm 98:1, 2-3, 3-4; Reading II: 2 Timothy 2:8-13; Gospel: Luke 17:11-19
FROM THE RECTOR’S DESK...An Historic Moment in the Life of the Diocese – Please join Bishop Foys at the Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, for the Funeral Mass and Entombment of Covington’s third bishop, Camillus Paul Maes (1846-1915). A tour by the Cathedral historian will follow. I want to say a special word of thanks to the Cathedral Ladies Society for hosting the Dinner/Dance on September 28. Due to another event, Bishop Foys, Fr. Shelton, and I were out of town that weekend, but I have heard from many people that it was a very enjoyable evening. I want to thank especially Carol Mang, the President of the Ladies Society, as well as the officers and members of the Society, and all the volunteers who helped in any way. Events such as this require so much planning and hard work, so to all who helped in any way, I am very grateful.
Fr. Maher
White Mass – Most Reverend Roger J. Foys requests the honor of your presence at the fourth annual Diocese of Covington White Mass for all healthcare workers and their families. The White Mass gathers the faithful to pray for God’s Blessing upon all who labor in the healing ministry of the Church, such as physicians, nurses, compassionate care ministers, chaplains, mental healthcare workers, and all men and women religious and Catholic laypersons serving in the healthcare profession. A special blessing will be extended to the faithful who care for God’s people with compassion. Thursday, October 24, 2019, 6:30 p.m., in the Cathedral. Reception immediately following in Bishop Howard Memorial Auditorium. This joyful occasion is coordinated by the Sts. Teresa of Calcutta and Faustina Guild of the Catholic Medical Association. Please invite your family and friends. For information, please call 859-392-1500.
Mark Your Calendars – The annual parish dinner in celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary will take place after the Feast Day this year. It will follow the 4:30 p.m. Vigil Mass on Saturday, December 14, 2019. Details will follow later.

Exorcism Talk & Bonfire – Does the Devil exist? Are angels and demons real? All across the world, thousands of Catholic priests claim to regularly battle the devil in a rite known as exorcism. For many years now, Mary Chasteen (PhD candidate) has assisted Fr. Vince Lampert in his ministry as one of the country's leading exorcists. Join local young adults (18-35) as we gather around a bonfire the weekend before Halloween to hear Mary’s stories and ask her questions about the Church’s Teachings on spiritual warfare. Questions? Email [email protected].
