52 Years of Rotary Service in Sandy Bay
President Brian Shearer and AG, PP Marion Cooper is being presented with a cheque for
$1150, from Kathryn Martin from the Rotaract Club of Sandy Bay. The money is to help
purchase a Sky Hydrant.
Mutherurumer Nachiappan, Akhile Joseph, Kathryn Martin, Kyle Underdown, Joseph Ferguson and Madaka Wehella from the Rotaract Club of Sandy Bay spoke about the Australian Rotaract International Conference in Sydney this year.
There were three key note speakers at the conference: Stephanie Wollard, Kirk Pereira and Jason Ball.
Stephanie Wollard, is a social entrepreneur, founder of Seven Women as well as hands on development and the Kathmandu cooking school.
Kirk Pereira is a Business Development Manager working to eradicate global poverty.
Jason Ball: In 2012, Jason Ball harnessed the national spotlight when he became the first Aussie Rules player at any level of the game to come out.
All who went to the conference spoke.
Such things as gender roles were discussed as well as mindfulness of blindness, deafness and how they live their lives, and how important to be mindful of other people.
How to set your goals and a roads map of where you want to go. These might be either short or long time goals and how you might go about achieving your goal destinations.
Setting up an organisation and how there is not much support for young people going forward with their missions and goals, products or services that they want to provide.
If you make a mistake learn from your mistake.
AG Marion Cooper with Kathryn Martin who said thank you with flowers and chocolates for Marion sponsoring her to go to The Australian Rotaract Conference in Sydney in October 2017.
Sarah Gourlay & Alexander Tichen, thanked the Club for sponsoring them to the National Youth Science Forum in Can-berra in January 2018.
Alex is interested in Modelling, graphics and board riding. The Australian Science Competition they have 30 hours to complete the task, then the conference. Alex thinks he might do practical engineering other areas.
Sarah thanked the Rotary Club of Sandy Bay for sponsoring her to The National Youth Science Forum in Canberra. “Science is where you can go,” said Sarah. She hopes to see more than playing sport, Volley ball, and tennis. Sarah said, “ that she does like to watch TV!”
The AGM was held on the 4th December 2017.

Bob Calvert and Helen Holmes enjoying fellowship. Bob Calvert –District recommended that all Rotarians have Police checks working with vulnerable people. This is an important card, for Rotarians who are involved in RYDA, RYLA. Cost $18 just go online and it lasts for 3 years.
