In the historical centre of Merano the Pobitzer mill has been around for centuries, well known all over the province. After moving to Lana in the Merano area, in the seventies it was purchased by the von Berg family of German origins, who boasted a long tradition in the sector in their country and who, in 1985, relaunched production under the name “MOLINO MERANO”, with a clear reference to its location in the heart of South Tyrol, where nature, water and air are as wholesome as can be. Beginning with a small assortment of flours, in 30 years of operations the mill developed continuously, thanks in part to the purchase of a company specialised in flour blends for bread making, until reaching

its current dimensions and an expansion of the assortment to enable to boast more than 600 different items today. This family run company owes its success to a great passion for grains and their processing, to a great flexibility to meet the needs of the customer in terms of special flour blends, punctuality, reliability in delivery and a well structured sales network. In recent years numerous investments have been made in machinery so it is the only company in Italy with a specific mill for rye milling. MOLINO MERANO also has a new flour and blend mixing system and a new filling system. In order to guarantee maximum purity for all the raw materials an „optical selector“ is used.

UNDER THE BANNER OF TRADITION.

Quality From the beginning, thanks to the careful selection of raw material suppliers, the primary goal has been to achieve exceptional quality and in recent years the various certifications obtained have contributed to this goal as confirmation of the products‘ excellence. In the 90s work began on organic flour after obtaining organic certification followed in 2005 by IFS (International Featured Standards) certification. Development operations have always been the backbone of the MOLINO MERANO company, leading to an expansion of the flour blends range and to the opening of a research laboratory and a test bakery.

There new blends are tested and, with the cooperation of our customers, new products are developed.Today MOLINO MERANO boasts its own range of raw materials (including wheat, rye and Kamut flour) which are always available. Thanks to the high warehouse capacity of more than 10,000 t and the possibility of blending different types of flours, they are able to maintain product quality unaltered.

The countless varieties of flour range from wheat to rye and spelt, Kamut, barley and oat, all the way to corn, rice and even ancient grains such as Diccocum (Emmer), thereby allowing us to meet the various bread making needs and the demand for expansion of the product assortment, remaining faithful to South Tyrol‘s fame in terms of the vast selection of bread. The most modern technology allows skilful blending of the flours and precision milling, maintaining product quality

unaltered, also guaranteed by scrupulous laboratory checks from which reference samples are naturally created. Thanks to our high warehouse capacity we are able to ensure the maturation of the flours, their blending and consistent quality. The flours can be sold both in bulk or packaged in various size bags.

The technical know-how of professionals in the sector, combined with the use of pre-cious flours and the correct doses of the individual components, has allowed the MOLINO MERANO company to make a line of semi-finished products for bread making, created specifically to meet the need for innovative products with differ-ent flavours, able to meet the demands of our clientèle in the best possible way and streamline their bread making operations, leaving the baker plenty of room for cre-ativity. Thanks to the modern system, the

blends of the various flours are created directly in the Lana plant which currently boasts a truly rich assortment with consist-ent quality. Before reaching the market these blends are lab-tested. This proce-dure allows us to consider and, if nec-essary, implement suggestions received directly from our customers into the range of semi-finished products as confirmation of our policy of being completely custom-er-need oriented.
