2010 Graduation Booklet

It may sound early, but students have already started to create illustrations for Ander-

son Center’s 2010 Commencement booklet. As in past years, students have been

creating drawings based on graduation themes (i.e. caps, gowns, graduates, diplomas,

etc.). Some of their creations will be included in the finished booklet and one lucky

artist will be chosen for the front cover!

Spring has Sprung

Over the last few months students have been creating a artwork inspired by Spring.

The evidence can be seen throughout the school, including the decorations that have

These projects have included:

Drawing, Gluing, Painting, Collage, Decoupage. Used for decorations for cafeteria.

“Eggs Paper Construction” (2-D) - Folding, Tracing, Cutting, Gluing, Collage.

“Cherry Blossoms Paper Sculptures” (3-D)- Painting, Tracing, Cutting, Gluing.

What’s Going On?! (Cont.) Van Gogh “Sunflowers” Completed

As mentioned in last month’s edition of The Anderson, the students created paintings

based on the works of the artist, Vincent van Gogh. Through the creation of these

paintings the students were introduced to new painting techniques, including Marker

Transfer, and also practiced past techniques, such as Masking and Tempera Paint

Transfer. All of the paintings turned out great!

Example of these paintings can be seen on the front page of this edition of The Ander-

sonian and in Conference Room B.

Graduation Art Show

Plans are underway to hold the 2nd Annual Graduation Art Show. As you may

remember, during last year’s student commencement a display of student artwork was

setup in front of the Auditorium for all to see. It was such a great success that it will

be held this year also. In fact, I am already picking out art for the 2010 Show!

The Graduation Ceremony will be held on June 25th. The art show should go up on

June 24th and remain up for about two weeks.

All of this is subject to change. I will send along additional information or any changes

as they come in.

If you have any art news that you want to add to next month’s

Andersonian please let me know (x1569). ~ Nathan (Rm. 416).
