ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Our HistoryTexas Connections Academy is a Texas Online School (TOLS) that offers 100% virtual instruction to public school students across Texas in grades 3-12 who are not physically present on a campus during instruction. The TOLS program is authorized by Texas Education Code (TEC) Chapter 30A, administered through Texas Education Agency (TEA), and was initially known as the Electronic Course Pilot (ECP). TCAH first opened as a program in Houston ISD in December 2008 as Houston Connections Academy. The school was founded during the 2009–10 school year as a 3–8 school, served 9th and 10th grades for the first time in 2010– 11, and became a public high school in 2011–12. The inaugural Class of 2014 was awarded diplomas on June 1, 2014 in Houston ISD. TCAH is Houston Independent School District Contract Charter and managed by Connections Academy of Texas, LLC (a division of Connections Education, LLC).
Our MissionTexas Connections Academy is a leader in virtual education excellence that provides unparalleled individualized learning experiences designed to prepare and inspire each student to maximize his or her potential and prepare and inspire them to succeed in an ever-changing world.
OUR PROGRAM
Texas Connections Academy currently offers high school grades 9–12 with an enrollment of 3,500 students. Here are some important facts about our program:
• TCA is a Contract Charter with HoustonIndependent School District and is accreditedthrough Houston Independent School District.
• The school has 202 professional certified/licensedprofessional staff; 73% have earned advanceddegrees.
• School is in session 180 days a year between themonths of August and June.
• The school has an active chapter of the Nationaland Junior National Honor Society.
• Students are able to participate in numerous clubsand activities, including Broadcast Club, ChessClub, Debate Club, Math Olympiads, and RoboticsClub.

COURSE OFFERINGSTexas Connections Academy core curriculum is geared toward preparing students for college and beyond. Students have access to AP, Honors, and College Preparatory.
TCAH is offering dual credit program through Houston Community College for the 2017-18 school year that will include online and face to face courses so that students from across the state can benefit from this opportunity.
AP course offerings include: English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Human Geography, US History, US Government, Macroeconomics, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Computer Science, Statistics, Biology, and Spanish Language.
Honors course offerings include: Algebra I and II, Biology, Chemistry, English 1 & 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, World History.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTSTexas Connections Academy operates on a semester system utilizing Carnegie units. One semester class equals one-half of a high school credit. Students who have taken high school level courses while in middle school may have been granted high school credit. The typical course load is seven classes per semester. 26 Carnegie units of credit are required for graduation. Specific requirements include:
