TERM 4 PARENTS’ NOTIFICATION 2019 2019 年第四学段家长通知书 Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s), Welcome back to Term 4! We hope that you and your child/ward managed to have adequate rest and quality bonding during the term break. In the blink of an eye, we have now come to the last term of the academic year. As we look ahead to yet another exciting term, kindly take note of the upcoming programmes and activities that the school has organised to enrich your child’s/ward’s learning. We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all students an enjoyable and fulfilling Term 4, and to all our P6 students taking the PSLE, remember to stay calm and focussed, and take good care of your health and well-being. All the best and we look forward to celebrating with you when your hard work culminates in excellence. Please note that PSLE Listening Comprehension will be held on 20 September 2019 (Fri). CELEBRATIONS 庆祝活动 Children's Day Celebration The school will be celebrating Children's Day on 3 October 2019 (Thu). In support of Community Chest (SharityTM) by our P1-3 students and Club Rainbow by our P4-6 students, our students are encouraged to participate in our 'Be Yourself’ Day by attending school dressed in their own casual clothing and school shoes, and donating part of their pocket money to the respective charitable organisations. Please note that school hours are as per normal on that day. 4 October 2019 (Fri) is a school holiday.

P6 BiCEP students will be involved in P6 BiCEP Graduation Ceremony on 29 October 2019 (Tue) after their PSLE. There will be a recruitment drive for year 2020’s intake of P4 BiCEP students. Details of the selection test dates are as follows: 1) 2019 P3 selected Mainstream students will take the test on 13 November 2019 (Wed). 2) 2020 P4 GEP students accepted into Tao Nan School will take the test on 3 January

2020 (Fri).

道南学校双文化华文优选课程

小四学生将在第四学段 11 月 5 日(星期二)参加由福建会馆属下五所学校联办的“小

四双文化华文优选课程知识竞赛”。小六学生则会在会考过后 10 月 29 日(星期二）

参加结业礼。

我们也将如火如荼地进行一系列遴选 2020 年小四双文化华文优选课程学生的活

动。详情如下：

1) 2019 年获选的小三主流学生遴选测试日期为 2019 年 11 月 13 日（星期三）。

2) 考入道南学校 2020 年高才班的小四学生遴选测试日期为 2020 年 1 月 3 日（星期

五）。 AESTHETICS DEPARTMENT The Revised Primary Art Syllabus 2018 (For P1, P2 and P3 only) A key emphasis in the revised syllabus is to engage students in evaluating their own art and adopting different perspectives to reflect on their own learning. Hence, students are encouraged to be self-directed and share their thoughts and ideas on how they can best achieve their learning. To achieve this aim, portfolio assessment is recommended as the main assessment mode to evaluate and support students’ learning. The portfolio contains a collection of students’ work samples (final and process) and other evidences of student learning, and uses a range of tools to assess learning. Students will not be bringing the portfolio back and forth as they will be stored in the classrooms. As your child/ward will be using the portfolio over 6 years, we enlist your help not to remove his/her existing works as he/she progresses to the following year. He/She will be bringing the portfolio home at the end of the year. Your child/ward will be required to bring the portfolio back to school at the start of Term 1 2020 to return it to the art teachers. SAFETY & SECURITY MATTERS 安全与保安 Safety and Security in School We believe in taking a proactive approach in cultivating safety habits in our students, and encourage all parents/guardians to take greater responsibility and ownership to help the school achieve better safety outcomes for our students. For the safety and security of all our staff and students in the school, we seek your understanding and cooperation in the following areas: 1. Please do not remain in school during school hours or accompany your child/ ward in

the canteen during recess. 2. If you need to see the teacher or make an enquiry at the General Office, kindly report

first to the security officer at the Security Post and then proceed to the General Office for assistance.

3. All visitors, including Parents/ Guardians, are to produce proof of identity (e.g. Identity Card, Driving Licence) and sign in with the security officer at the Security Post. A Visitor Pass will be issued for each visitor.

4. Parents/ Guardians are also requested to produce their proof of identity for signing their child/ ward out at the General Office if they wish to take him/ her home during school hours.

5. We wish to emphasise that visitors are not allowed to tour the school premises on their own. Please seek assistance from the General Office for enquiries. For more information, please refer to the Student's Handbook (Pages 11 and 12).

a) Reporting for School If you are driving your child/ ward to school in the morning, you may let your child/ ward alight at the designated drop-off point in the school before 7.20 am, by entering the school via the school’s main gate at Still Road South and leaving via the back gate at Marine Crescent or the front gate at Still Road South. Please observe road safety at all times and cooperate fully with the school’s traffic wardens on duty.

b) Dismissal To keep the school compound safe, cars are only allowed to enter the school to pick the students when the last school bus has left the compound.

In line with our efforts to step up our security and safety measures, the school will no longer grant permission to parents to hold birthday celebrations for their children at the school canteen. We seek your understanding on this matter.
