Mr. Briody, Miss Ryan, Anton, Wren and Raagith went on an exciting trip to City Hall in London Bridge to collect Marlborough’s Healthy School’s Silver Award. It was an inspiring and thought-provoking day. Joanne McCartney,
Statutory Deputy Mayor of London, chaired the award ceremony. She invited a range of speakers to the stage who largely spoke about the importance of fitness and exercise on mental health and wellbeing – something we are all very aware of here at Marlborough having achieved the Wellbeing Award as well as the Healthy Schools Award.
Among the speakers were Leon Taylor, Olympic Diver and Elaine Wyllie MBE, founder of The Daily Mile who captured the audience with their personal stories of exercise making a profound difference to their lives. A number of primary schools from London also presented and shared
their individual success stories. We were presented with our Silver Award live on stage and even enjoyed a fabulous lunch at the top of City Hall. See some pictures from our fantastic day above.

Priyal, Natsuki, Sabreen and Ibrahim have been super creative and have been chosen to have their poems published in a book called Poetry patrol 2019-Middlesex showcasing young writers work. The poems were selected for creativity.
Miss Fernando is
super-duper proud
of her creative
writers and cannot
wait to see the
published poems!
YEAR 1 CREATIVE WRITERS
Reception held their final Welcome Wednesday session today. It was a very successful morning. In this session, parents were able to participate in the teaching and learning experiences alongside their children.
This week is cultural diversity week at Marlborough. The children learnt all about the continent Asia and both parents and children had the opportunity to get involved with creative activities linked to this continent. The children loved having their parents in the classroom as they could be creative together.
Below are some of the quotes from the parents who attended the morning.
“It has been lovely coming to Welcome
Wednesday’s and interacting with my child in class.”
“I will continue my child’s learning at home and carry
on with some of the activities.”
“I will continue to do more activities at home with my
child and to encourage him to be more independent.”
Here are some of the comments from the children-
“I like mummy coming to see me in school. We made a Panda together.”
“I made a flag. My mummy came this time but my daddy comes to welcome Wednesday too.”
“My favourite part was making the cat and I did
the eyes and mouth.”
RECEPTION WELCOME WEDNESDAY

Year 1 got creative and made foil sculpture’s celebrating African Art day, along with making African jewellery out of paper plates. We transformed into young designers this week!
CULTURAL DIVERSITY WEEK
Year 1 have been fashion
designers and made Tie dye
T-shirts to celebrate Asia day.
CULTURAL DIVERSITY WEEK
Elliyah: I enjoyed being creative it was
so fun.
Sarah: I enjoyed making my African
necklaces, bracelets and rings
Anvi: I enjoyed making the African
necklace because it was nice to make
them and I never knew you could use a
paper plate for it. My teacher also taught
us Spanish and I enjoyed speaking
Spanish in class.
Robert: I enjoyed making the foil art because it was challenging but cool. Alma: I liked making my own Tie dye T-shirt it was so colourful. Aabid: I enjoyed making the necklaces because they were fun and arty.
CULTURAL DIVERSITY WEEK
Gabi 5 Potter: On
Wednesday we did
Mandala art. We drew the
outline of the animals and
we did the Mandala inside.
Julia 5 Potter: I liked when
we did Mandala and used
oil pastels. I also liked
drawing the outline of the
animals. The new thing that
I learnt was different types
of Mandala art that was
interesting.
On Friday 28th June, Year 3 pupils were fortunate enough to go to Harrow Leisure Centre to take part in the Harrow Sporting Champions event amongst other schools in the area. Although they were exhausted by the end, they had an incredible day of staying active by competing in various sports, including Athletic Jumps, Dancing, Hockey, Football and many more! They were even given the opportunity to meet and greet two-time Olympic Sprinter Ashleigh Nelson and Rachel Miller and Team GB Figure Skater Graham Newberry. The children had a range of fascinating questions to quiz them with!
HARROW SPORTING CHAMPIONS
Neha, 3 King: I really enjoyed the sports
activities because we did lots of energetic
and fun games throughout the day and my
favourite part was taking part in the Hockey
game because I know lots of other people
who also play Hockey.
George, 3 King: It was
really inspirational to
meet the Olympic
athletes because we got
the chance to ask them
lots of questions about
their career if we were
curious and they have
motivated me to go and
try new sports near
where I live. We even got
signed certificates from
them which I kept in a
special place.
Kaito, 3 King: I wish
we had Sports Day’s
like this more often
because I love
staying active and I
would like to join
new clubs after
trying new sports
here. I wish we had
even more time to
finish the football
activity!
Lola, 3 King: My
highlight of the day
was the dance
activity which was a
mix of modern and
street dance. I also
enjoyed asking the
famous athletes
questions even
though I felt a little
nervous as I didn’t
know what they
were going to say! I
am glad that we got
lots of useful
information from
them.
Over the summer term pupils across the school have been working hard on an exciting film making project with their class teachers linked to the theme 'Tomorrow'. Across the school, children were given the opportunity to experience the whole film making process from planning and storyboarding, filming on green screen, Sound engineering and film editing. These were entered into the Harrow Film festival competition and I am pleased to announce that two of our films were showcased on the evening. Congratulations to Juwayriah Nordin- Gonzales and Lincoln class for your fantastic films- Hollywood better watch out! Visit our school website to see the work of our young film makers.
