The school held two enormously successful busy bees where parents assisted in removing grass, constructing vegetable beds, installing reticulation, filling beds with soil, mulching, constructing a garden shed and planting fruit trees. The project was a great success and, in the second half of last year, the students were able to plant, harvest and eat vegetables that they had cared for. The school was a finalist in the recent City of Stirling’s Living Green Sustainability Awards, held last Wednesday. Miss Coad, Mr Corica and Mrs Furness (last year’s parent garden coordinator) represented the school at the awards dinner. The school was a winner in its category and received an impressive trophy. Congratulations to the Kindergarten and Pre Primary community for supporting the school in this project. Being a winner in the City of Stirling Living Green Sustainability Awards is recognition of a job well done! The leadership team would like to have parent representation in their group. The Tiny Tots Toy Library is a not-for-profit community group run by a small group of volunteering parents with babies and young-children to keep this wonderful resource for families in the Stirling community. Our toy library opens every Saturday morning and contains over 2000+ toys for young children from 0 to 7 years old where parents, grandparents, carers, educators could borrow toys (small to large e.g. slides), games, puzzles, dress-ups for 2 weeks, then either renew or return and take other toys out (annual membership fee of $65 or pro rata). https://www.facebook.com/BalcattaTTTL It is a non-

profit organization run by a committee of volunteers who are parents/ current members. Tiny tots currently have 15 members, which is a low number compared to previous years. We have started to increase local advertising with signs, Facebook, flyers, posters at the local IGA, library as well as in infant packs through a child health nurse. Parents who come are very happy with the toys and the money / house space they can save, but many haven't heard of it before. We have also had comments like "Hi I'm looking for the toy library?" when they were actually standing inside the toy library. At the moment, it's really a toy-shed!
