This fundraising gala has been made possible with the support of the numerous volunteers.

The organizing committee thank you for your time and dedications.

On behalf of the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Soci-ety, I warmly welcome you to our fundraising dinner. We have a fantastic evening of music and entertain-ment planned for you highlighting the richness of Taiwanese cuisine and culture. We've had a busy year, organizing many events such as the "Made in Taiwan" exhibition in January and the Marpole Dance Festival in June. We also part-

nered with the Rotary Club to provide 3 community meals that were pro-vided without charge. I would like to thank the board, office staff and vol-unteers for working so hard to make all our programs and services suc-cessful. It is amazing when considering how far the TCCS has come over these past 24 years. The TCCS started as just an idea. Through our hard work, we were able to build the Taiwan Cultural Centre. Now, we begin of our next stage. This past April, the city of Vancouver approved the Marpole Com-munity Plan. The TCCS actively participated in the planning process, which set the guidelines for the future growth of the area. This vision in-cluded a zoning change which allows the Taiwan Cultural Centre to expand significantly. Before our future dream becomes a reality, we have to make sure the cur-rent programs and services we offer today are on solid footing. That is why the funds we raise at tonight's event are so important. Thank you so much for attending the TCCS Fundraising Gala and for your tremendous support. Please enjoy the evening's events.

首先要歡迎並感謝各位來參加台加 2014 年的募款餐會!

台加 23 歲了！因為大家的愛護、支持、參與及付出，台加 23 歲了! 在這 23 年當中，台加文化協會一直致力於加拿大與台灣文化的交流；並積極

地帶領鄉親參與本地的活動。而一年八百多場次的大小節目，更是受

到眾多會員鄉親朋友的支持與喜愛。

幾年前，在盧月鉛老師的引薦下，認識了台加，參與了台加，於是愛

上了台加這個「家」! 在這個家裡，大家快樂的相處、無私的付出，因

而得以讓我們的「家」溫暖地成長!

今晚餐會的主題是延續去年的「辦桌」，最主要是希望讓所有人，有

「回家吃飯」的感覺!

感謝今晚「回家吃飯」的每一位，台加因為有您們，所以溫暖、所以

熱鬧。台加因為有您們，所以像個「家」!

About Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Society In view of the influx of new immigrants from Taiwan to Canada, around 40 Taiwanese Canadians in Vancouver established the Taiwanese Canadian Cul-tural Society (TCCS) in 1991. Besides providing various settlement services hoping to help new-comers enjoy a smooth transition in this new land they have chosen, a part of the mandate of the TCCS is for the Taiwanese here to know more about our own Taiwanese culture as well as to promote the exchange be-tween the Taiwanese and Canadian cultures. Over the years, TCCS plays an important role in introducing Taiwanese culture to the Canadian public through many local cultural activities and events. With continual effort, TCCS has become one of the main information sources for various government needs. It is the goal of the TCCS to promote mutual under-standing and cultural harmony between Taiwanese and other ethnic groups in Canada.

台加文化協會簡介

一九九一年三月三十日， 近四十位熱心的台灣移民，由於深感溫哥華地區

缺乏一個能夠推廣台灣、加拿大兩地互動的團體，在林宗義教授號召下，

創立台加文化協會。 協會的宗旨在協助新移民融入本地主流社會，並促進

台灣與加拿大兩地的文化交流。 透過協會所舉辦的各項活動與講座， 新移

民們能夠了解及適應本地社會的生活， 儘早融入主流社會；同時協會多年

藉各項的文化表演和展覽，參與及舉辦多樣的活動， 讓本地的人士瞭解台

灣文化。 經多年努力的成果，台加已成為政府及民意機構制定移民相關政

策的諮詢對象之一。為了爭取來自台灣的移民應有的權利， 提昇台灣移民

在加拿大的地位，台加文化協會也積極參與本地各種活動及公共政策之制

定過程，更鼓勵我們的會員跨出我們的社區，走入主流社會。台加在眾人協

助之下，這二十二年的發展，成績斐然，希望認同台加宗旨的朋友，繼續與

我們一同攜手努力。

Goals of Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Society 1. To educate and help new immigrants understand and integrate into Canadian

life and culture.

2. To contribute to multiculturalism through educational activities and pro-

grams related to Taiwanese arts, culture, history and languages.

3. To encourage new immigrants to take part in the local community through

educational program and activities, with the goal of greater mutual under-

standing among ethnic groups.

4. To introduce Taiwanese culture to Canadians and to promote within the

community at large, a better understanding of the Taiwanese contributions

to the Canadian society.

台加文化協會宗旨

本會匯集海內外台灣人的力量，以促進加台文化交流，並提昇台灣人在加

拿大之社會參與，為達到此目的，本會推動：

1. 協助移居加拿大之台灣人，瞭解及適應加拿大的社會與文化。

2. 舉辦有關台灣語文歷史與文化之活動，傳承發揚台灣文化，並積極對

加拿大多元文化發展做出貢獻。

3. 鼓勵台灣人參與各社區活動，提昇台灣人之活動層次及協助加拿大各

階層對台灣的瞭解。

4. 推廣台灣人與台灣社團的互助觀念與活動，發揚台灣人刻苦耐勞精

神，提昇台灣人與社團間的關懷與愛心。

5. 與其他族裔或社團合作舉辦各種文化活動，提昇台灣人在加拿大的社

會地位。

6. 爭取加國各級政府，台灣相關機構，民間團體，企業界及個人包括經

費等各方面協助，以利上述各項活動之推行。

Performers 演出者 Mike Liu, Magician

Mike Liu，八年的魔術經驗，擅長近景魔術，出席各種大小公司活動表演。近期不定期在

劇院舉辦魔術表演活動。熱衷於魔術，是目前

在溫哥華唯一作表演的台灣人魔術師。榮譽

2012 Burnaby 市長頒發市長獎、2013 婦女會頒發的最佳表演貢獻獎、2013 加拿大全省比賽魔術 2 名。

Janelle Nadeau, Harpist / Vocalist

Harpist and vocalist Janelle Nadeau provides a refreshing and unexpected approach to the harp and is proud to be releasing her debut album "These Roads" this September. This classically-trained harpist plays a variety of music including Celtic, Spanish, popular music as well as her

own compositions. While enjoying a career as a classical musician, Janelle’s experience with co-writing opened new doors for her which encouraged her to use her voice, as well as the harp, to express her music. This born-and-raised Manitoba farmer’s daughter makes her career as a harpist in Vancouver but each August Janelle returns to the family’s grain farm to help with harvest. Janelle’s small town farming roots, coupled with her humorous and charismatic persona, guarantee engaging music that will capture the hearts of any audience. Janelle Nadeau graduated in 2008 from the Harp Performance pro-gram at the University of BC. She is a member of the acclaimed Winter Harp ensemble, which performs Celtic, medieval, and classi-cal music touring Western Canada. Janelle has played with the Van-couver Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs with the Van-couver Opera. This Manitoban harpist has toured with the Health Arts Society, the Canada National Youth Orchestra, Manitoba’s popular Home Routes, Manitoba Arts Network and many others. She has performed for Celebrity Cruises and has played in the backup band for Kanye West. Janelle has toured and played with world-class harpists Kim Robertson, Deborah Henson-Conant and Patrick Ball.

Elaine Hsieh 謝依霖, Dancer 謝依霖自 4、5 歲開始學習律動舞蹈、芭蕾、現代舞、民族舞、爵士舞到 23 歲。國中、高中代表學校參加大型民族舞蹈比賽，成績都在前三名。 國際標準舞

由周志坤老師啟蒙。來加拿大後，先後跟隨 Denis Trambley、Luana Conte, Katherina Mechamgo, Orga Richardson 學習國際標準舞技巧訓練。2010 Cana-dian Closed Competition (CCC) Senior Pre-Champ Standard Champion。 近十年的敎學經驗， 指導學生經常為老人院、各社團晚會、慈善募款表演。目前

擔任台加國標舞&排舞班老師。

Su-Ling Tseng 曾舒琳, Dancer Su-Ling Tseng is a choreographer, a movement inno-vator, and a comeback dancer. Her focus, in research and in life, is choreographic inquiry, integrating cho-reographic consciousness in everyday living. To her, dancing is the fuel of the soul, and choreographing is to plant the seeds in the land of the soul. Su-Ling is con-tinuously exploring her understanding of dance through various forms. She has a BA and MA in dance.

Ruby Ba 巴如玉 & Cole Anderson, Pianist/ Trombonist Ruby Ba and Cole Anderson have been married for only six months, yet their mu-sical relationship can go way back to their school life. Both of them studied music in university and each holds degrees in Music and Education. Now they are school teachers in Vancouver and Surrey. Besides their teaching life, they play at Fraser Val-ley Wind Ensemble in Surrey every Mon-day night.
