LSU Eunice: Undergraduate Research Summer Institute (URSI)

URSI is a 17 year old program at LSU designed to provide students with meaningful, investigative research experiences with faculty.

Undergraduate researches experience gains in skills such as use of primary literature, formulating research hypotheses, interpreting data and communicating the results of their research.

They experience personal gains in independence and self-confidence.

They pursue graduate education at higher rates than other student groups.

In short they develop an excitement for intellectual activity. They appreciate that learning is not inert; it’s dynamic and consists of a dialogue, i.e., an exchange of information, data and views about some question/problem with others.
