University of Greenwich – Medway ResidencesA 360-bed development at the heart of the regenerated MedwayUniversity Campus, formerly the Chatham Royal Navy Dockyard.

Sodexo took on the facilities management of the two properties comprising thisdevelopment on behalf of Infrastructure Investments in August 2009.

The combination of a ten-year-old development and a much newer 180-bedcomplex provided challenges in ensuring that the student experience wasconsistent across the estate.

We worked closely with our client to review all aspects of service delivery, as wellas advising on refurbishment planning, including wall and floor coverings, whitegoods, access control and long-term replacement programmes.

Sodexo provides a full range of services to the site, comprising:

• overall site management and administration• security and CCTV monitoring• grounds maintenance• building maintenance, including planned and reactive tasks,

minor works, PAT testing and fire control• housekeeping and cleaning services, including laundry• allocations, key management and administration

04

“Our Medway property is a mixture of new en-suite accommodation andolder, inherited stock, requiring a great deal of upgrade to comply withcurrent standards and regulations.

Sodexo has been a breath of fresh air. Within days of Sodexo taking over theentire FM provision on our behalf, we were aware we were tapping into awealth of expertise, backup and know-how. Of particular note, we have beenextremely impressed with the open and efficient handling of issues relatingto cost and maintenance strategy.

The staff and management are first class and have established a greatrapport with the university staff and Infrastructure Investments Ltd,making life so much easier for us. Taking over new buildings is one thing, but the efficient and sensitive integration of the management of the olderbuildings has been truly impressive.”
