Clichés exist for a reason, but sometimes a little information is lost here and there. It’s certainly true that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but what the saying
forgot to include is that you can just as easily reach a woman’s heart in the same
way! Make the journey that little bit easier this coming Valentine’s day by booking
your table in Stravaigin ASAP, or pencil a note in your diary to reach the Cafe Bar early to ensure you get a romantic spot. Want to add an extra romantic touch to your evening? Why not share a bottle of something special with your someone
special. Meinklang, Pinot Noir Rose Frizzante, Austria, 2009, 10%,

Darwin Day On the 22nd of November 1859 Charles Darwin’s book ‘The Origin of Species’
was published and changed the world. 113 years on Stravaigin are delighted to announce a celebration of Darwin’s life
and works to be held on Darwin Day, February 12th 2012. Taking inspiration from his world famous discoveries we have planned a menu which sees the birth of a whole new breed of themed dinner! Each course will
represent a different species of animal and/or plant and inspiration will be gleaned from all over the globe in true Stravaigin style.

Sombrero’d men and mustachioed women, not what you expect to see on a regular Saturday afternoon in Glasgow’s west end.
However, Saturday 29th October 2010 certainly wasn’t a regular Saturday – it was the day of the Great Western Chilli Cook Off,
brain child of our friends at Lupe Pintos. Stravaigin was not to be outdone when it came to participation
and with our little sibling Stravaigin 2 firmly at our side we commenced on a lively twelve hours of serving up gourmet, dark chocolate infused chilli, perfectly balanced margaritas and lime-
wedged coronas to the masses. Congratulations must be extended to The Roxy 171 whose smokey bacon laced chilli won after much deliberation by both the public
and the specially selected judges. All in all it was a spectacular day and here at Stravaigin we are already planning for next years
round.
THE GREAT WESTERN
CHILLI COOK-OFF 2011
The celebrations of Dia De Los Muerto, or Mexican Day of the Dead to you and I, proved to be a rousing success at Stravaigin. The restaurant was bustling with happy punters enjoying a gourmet style Mexican menu whilst the bar buzzed with people making the most of the ‘Bowl of Chilli and a Mexican Beer’ deal. Alongside the Pacifico and Modelo beers which were brought in for the occasion head bar honcho Scott McLaughlin’s delicious cocktail The Grim Fandango went down a storm. We’d like to thank everybody who came down and made the effort to get into the Mexican spirit! Keep your eyes peeled for more themed nights at Stravaigin!
