Story Tour Brochure InstructionsThis assignment is intended to be used after students have completed a short story or a novel. The purpose is for students to promote the story to potential readers by creating a “Story Tour Brochure.”

Page 2: This is the outside cover of the brochure. Students will illustrate the cover in the blank space, provide a summary, and draw a small image on the back page.

Page 3-4: These pages are the inside of the brochure. They can either be printed or photocopied double-sided, or you can easily glue the pages together.

Pass the assignment pages out to your students and tell them to complete all of the fields with as much detail as possible to entice potential readers of the story/novel without revealing too much of the plot. Encourage students to color parts of the brochure to make it more visually appealing.

When the assignment is complete, students cut out the outline of the brochure (removing the instructions) and fold the pages down the line in the middle. Staple the pages together and they are done!

TextStep One: Select the book you want to read for the book report and get it approved by Mrs. Musgrove no later than

Step Two: Read the book and then use this template to create a brochure about the book.

Follow the assignment directions closely and complete all of the sections with care and detail. You will be graded on neatness and grammar. You will need to write in complete and detailed sentences. Your penmanship must be readable. You may type the copy if you are concerned with the readability of your handwriting, but you must print and paste the copy in the sections outlined on the brochure layout. You should use color on your illustrations. Finally, you need to demonstrate that you have read and understood your book selection in a deep and meaningful way. The final report brochure is due no later than:

Discuss the themes that develop in the novel. Explain what type of conflict is used and how it unfolds in the story (no spoilers).

Draw two of the main characters in the story and discuss their traits. Name and define three new vocabulary terms from the text.

Write a short review of the story based on your own opinion. List books, movies, shows, or songs that someone who likes this story might also like.
