Step number one is actually deciding on a niche to promote. This could take a bit of research on your part. See, you do want to promote a popular niche but you don't want that next to be so popular that you have too much competition. The next most important step to Internet marketing is finding keywords that are related to the niche that you have selected. Many Internet marketing careers state that keyword research is the most important aspect of web marketing. You need to really take your time and come up with a concise list of keywords that are related to your niche.

Once you have a niche and keywords to go along with it, you now need to find a domain name that matches the keywords in your niche. Having your keywords in your domain name is not as important as it used to be that, it can still be one of the ranking factors that could push your site to the top.

So now you have a niche, you have keywords related to that niche, and you have purchased a domain name. Now you need to get some web hosting. At this point, most people will go with shared web hosting simply because it is much cheaper than dedicated web hosting. If you happen to have enough money, you should probably go for dedicated web hosting but, don't worry too much if you have to settle for shared hosting as that is a platform that the majority of web marketers use.

You have a domain name and web hosting and now you need to create some content for your website. Don't fall into the trap of creating subpar content. Your content should be both engaging and unique. When you write an article for your website, write it as if you were actually speaking to a prospective customer.

The website has content and now what do you do? Well of course, now it is time to promote your website! First, though ahead and submit your site to directories. There is no need to submit your website to search engines, as search engines will automatically pick up your website as they continually crawl the Internet. There used to be a time when submitting your website was a really big deal. These days however, submitting your website is actually a step that you could probably afford to miss completely.

Possibly one of the most important aspects of promoting your website is going to be social media interaction you will want to create a special section or even a special account with all of the social media websites and have those linked directly to your website. You will want to syndicate a good portion of your content so that it shows up on the social media websites and you will want people to read and engage with your content.
