GENERAL INFORMATION

X Courses in this directory are based on previous school requests and are intended as a guide only.

X Some new courses have been introduced to meet identified student needs.

X Some courses have been brought into alignment with full-time EIT programmes and these can

mean savings for students in time and fees for full-time courses if successfully completed. EIT

will continue to work with schools to achieve curriculum alignment in other subject areas

in 2015.

X Articulation agreements may be discussed with Deans and Heads of School for subject areas

where school staff are able to teach and assess courses under EIT Tairäwhiti accreditation.

X Places may be negotiated for individual secondary students on some full-time or degree

programmes. In these instances, fees are calculated according to the credits the course carries.

X It is the responsibility of the school to forward results to NZQA.

Course Confirmation

X When negotiations are completed, a detailed Course Confirmation Agreement will be sent to

the school. Please return a signed copy of this agreement to the Star/Gateway Co-ordinator at

EIT Tairäwhiti. This is required BEFORE enrolments can be processed.

X The agreement then becomes a binding contract for course delivery.

STAR and Holiday Course Bookings

X School staff please contact the Star Co-ordinator at EIT Tairäwhiti.

X Students please contact the Careers Department/STAR/Advisor at your school

commences.

X If students are paying for holiday courses themselves, then payment should be returned with

their enrolment.

Withdrawal/Refund Policy

X If students withdraw from any course later than one week prior to commencement, schools

may still be charged.

X If student numbers then fall below the minimum required for that course, cancellation will be

The Vocational Pathways are a

new tool that provides a clear

framework for vocational options,

support better programme design

and careers advice, and improve

the links between education and

employment.

They are the product of a partnership

between government agencies,

the industry training sector,

secondary and tertiary education

representatives, and industry and

employer representatives.

There are six pathways which

represent new ways to structure and

achieve NCEA level 2 and provide

a more coherent framework for

foundation vocational education

and training. The pathways will

help students to develop their own

individual education plan, so they are

better informed and able to make

better choices to meet their goals.

There are a range of tools you can

use to help plan and design your

programmes and help students

to plan their future career

opportunities.
