ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

TAFE NSW offers the Certificate III in Hairdressing as an apprenticeship. There may also be options available for you tostudy as a non-apprentice.

ApprenticeshipTo be eligible for this course, you must:

 Be employed as an?apprentice in the hairdressing industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer■

 Submit your Training Plan Proposal (TPP) with your application■

Non-apprenticeshipThere may be options available for you to study as a non-apprentice. Enquire today and one of our Apprenticeship andTraineeship team will help you understand any eligibility or entry requirements.

WORK PLACEMENT

There is no work placement requirement for this qualification. As an apprentice, you will gain your experience on-the-jobwith your employer.

If you are enrolling as a non-apprentice, you need to be in relevant employment or have access to appropriatesimulated workplace environments in order to meet the course completion requirements.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Full Time Blended course. You will need to attend approximately 23.8 hours of class, 2 days a week, for 36weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 5.1 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 5.2 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours,including online resarch tasks, self directed skill development.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?

This course offering is designed for people who:

 Are over 21 years of age and unsuitable for an apprenticeship pathway■

 Have previous workplace experience in a hairdressing salon or■

 Are currently employed in the Hairdressing industry or■

 Require Industry skills to be assessed through recognition of prior learning and gap training is delivered for any skills not yet achieved

or

 May have previous experience and qualifications from overseas that that have been translated to English■

This course is designed for people with previous workplace experience in a hairdressing salon. You will develop the skillsand knowledge to become a qualified hairdresser. On successful completion of this qualification, you will be job ready ina range of hairdressing services that include: cutting, colouring, design, chemical work and customer service.

First Qualification Fee

Applies to a student who does not already hold a post-school qualification from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.

Subsequent Qualification Fee

Applies to a student who already holds one or more post-school qualifications from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.

Apprenticeship Fee

Eligible apprentices are exempt from fees when undertaking an apprenticeship under the NSW Government's Fee FreeApprenticeship. For apprentices who are not eligible, apprenticeship qualification fees are capped at $2,000.
