Due to the Virus pushing the Conflict Resolution process into June, the Council has voted to extend the Separation
Agreement with Pastor Lee through the end of June, 2020.
Moving Forward is possible!
Pastor Eric Hulstrand will be at St. Paul
starting next Sunday, June 7 to give his
presentation of Observations and
Recommendations for St. Paul. (Please see
Page 4 for more details.) He will also
preach at our 9:30am service on Sunday,
June 7 in the CFC. Please make plans to
attend. Below is the meeting schedule for
next weekend. Please make plans to attend at least one meeting.
Sunday, June 7—will be preaching at our 9:30am worship
celebration
Sunday, June 7—After worship, this will be the first meeting with a

Q & A to follow. Refreshments to be served.
Since the beginning of May, I have been emailing out a weekly devotional to
our St. Paul family. Any time we have the opportunity to spend time with
God’s Word in Scripture is a good thing. Add to that some interpretation that
helps us understand and apply those texts to our daily lives is better still. I am
pleased that some of those receiving these devotionals have found them of value
and enlightening.
I’ve decided to expand these devotionals to more people who might also find
comfort and strength in them. Our church council has graciously given me
permission to include YouTube and Facebook as a resource to make these devotions available to more people outside
our congregation. I’m grateful because in these challenging times with COVID-19 and isolation only beginning to
lighten up from the lockdowns, devotions that point us to God are even more necessary.
Now you have your choice. You can go to the church web page and read or download the printed version or, if you
prefer, you can type in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Bulverde in YouTube and watch a video version of the same
devotion. You can also plug into Facebook from the church web page.
I’ll be providing a new devotional at the beginning of every week. If you find them of value, then I encourage you to
share them with friends. Enjoy and God bless!
Pastor Lee
While things are more challenging in these days of corona virus, life still goes on. We
have had a number of special, but private family worship opportunities these past
weeks. Since this has started, we have had two graveside services, one for Helen
Schoolcraft and the other for Sam Senft. In both cases, we have memorial services
pending when conditions permit in the church that we can share with these families.
On Saturday, May 16th, I was privileged to perform the marriage service for Sarah
Harrell and Jared Pauletti. Our prayers and joy goes with them in their lifelong
commitment to each other. It is possible that here, too, we will have the chance to
celebrate as the St. Paul family with them.
Finally on Sunday, May 24th, after our worship service I conducted the private baptism of Maren Michelle Brisson.
Maren’s parents are Erik and Megan Brisson. Her siblings are Aiden and Canaan. Her sponsors are Blake Brocka
and Nichole Brisson. Our prayers and God’s blessings go out to this newest disciple and the whole family on this
special day.
Lastly, while we missed confirmation in May, the class of 2020 will celebrate a service of confirmation with the
congregation in the next month or so. So be sure to check you newsletter and Sherry’s weekly activity email.
Conflict Resolution Update from Council—Pastor Eric’s Visit to St. Paul
Pastor Eric Hulstrand, from Moving Forward Conflict Resolution will be here at St. Paul for a series of meetings to give his Observations and Recommendations to the disciples of St. Paul. Everyone is encouraged and invited to attend. Pastor Eric’s observations and recommendations are based on the information he received from 211 surveys and over 40 phone conversations that he had with disciples of St. Paul. Below is his schedule for this time in Bulverde.
Sunday, June 7
• Pastor Eric will be preaching at our service at 9:30am in the CFC.
• After service, there will be a Congregational meeting for the first Observations and Recommendations presentation. His presentation will take approximately one hour. There will be a Q & A time afterwards. Each person there will receive a half-sheet of CARD STOCK paper and a pen (if needed). For the Q & A time, people will be encouraged to write their (anonymous) question(s) down on paper. Everyone will be encouraged to at least scribble on the paper so that everyone appears to be writing, which enhances the possibility of anonymity. He asks for the hardest, meanest and toughest questions people can think of. Every question is read out loud and answered. Refreshments will be provided.
At 5:30pm on Sunday June 7, Pastor Eric will repeat the Observations and Recommendations presentation for any who could not make the first one. Q & A afterwards with same format listed above. Refreshments provided.
Monday, June 8
• This will be the last opportunity for anyone would couldn’t attend the Sunday meetings. The meeting will start at 10:30am in the CFC. Q & A afterwards with the same format as the Sunday meetings. Refreshments provided.
We are looking into the possibility of having all 3 of these meetings on Zoom as well for people who are not yet ready to be out and about. Our AV team is working on this with Pastor Eric. All of the congregational meeting will also be recorded in case anyone cannot attend one of the scheduled meetings and would like to hear Pastor Eric observations and recommendations.
Update regarding the sale of the North Campus
Previous information passed along from the realtor regarding the timing of the extensions concerning the north campus
property purchase were incorrect. In essence, that prior information stated that the decision would be made by the
prospective buyers by the first part of May. That was in error and apologies for the miscommunication. The buyer has paid
the cost for the third option mentioned below. Below is latest correspondence from the realtor (Matthew Baylor):
“I went back to look at my dates for the feasibility the THREE (3) 60-day extensions the buyer has per the
contract. May 11th will be the end of the second option not the third, as of right now they have one additional
option available to them to extend for 60 more days at the cost of $6,000. The final date as of the contract that
the feasibility can be pushed to is Friday July 10 2020- with a 45-day closing thereafter. Apologies for any
confusion on the timeline.”

What do we do when we feel the weight of sorrow and grief, uncertainty, fear, and anxiety? Hopefully we pray. We can run to the One who knows us best because He created us. We can run to the One who will not only hold us, but will strengthen us and lead us through our pain and fear for His glory. We can pray specifically and we can pray boldly because God wants us to run to Him when our lives are going good and when we are experiencing our most difficult day.
Jesus showed us how to pray in times of crisis and suffering. No matter what kind of heartache and pain you are walking through today, look up. See God’s faithfulness; ask Him to be glorified in this. Look out and see the people around you and pray for them. Pray for perspective, pray for joy in the midst of pain, heartache, fear and uncertainly. Pray for God to strengthen you like never before.
It doesn’t hurt to ask God to move and heal, to restore and save, but it actually hurts us not to ask. He wants to bless and strengthen us, so when we don’t come to Him, believing He is good and He is able and He is willing, we miss out and we prevent Him from doing what He wants in our lives.
God wants to respond and He wants to answer us and He wants to do the impossible for us, but so often we are reluctant to ask. Whether we don’t want to ask, or we don’t think it is a big enough deal, or we don’t think the situation or person can change, we just don’t pray.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
During this difficult time, turn your hearts and minds to God. Ask him for courage and strength, stamina and peace. He hears our prayers and will be with us every step of the way.

LUTHERAN MEN—ANNUAL APPEAL FOR
LCMC—LUTHERAN MEN
The Mission Loan Fund: (Buck a Month Club)
Purpose: To worship God by supporting LCMC Mission
Basis: This fund is based on Jesus calling all of us to be disciples in the world today. There were 12 tribes of Israel,
Jesus has 12 disciples and there are 12 months in a year. Every man in our congregation is urged to give an
achievable goal of $1/month or $12 per year given at one time. Every man in our congregation can become a
member of the “Buck a Month Club.”
Goal: The goal is to average 25 men from each LCMC congregation commit to giving $12 per year with a secondary
goal of seeing how many congregations can have 100% contribute. We have one congregation that has 100% for
three consecutive years. The Mission Loan Fund would grow quickly, and since funds are loaned out keep coming
back, many mission congregations could be helped.

Red Roof Readers have continued to meet through different ways the past two months; April through Skype and May we met in the Fellowship Hall to watch the
movie version of our book A Man Called Peter and practiced social distancing. However, we were able to be together and share our thoughts and anxieties during our time together.
In June we will again meet and discuss our book The Story of Arthur Truluv by Elizabeth Berg. It is a charming…heartwarming…Truluv is a novel for these contentious times. We could all use a bit of Arthur’s ego free understanding and forgiveness of fellow human beings.
We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 6pm, June 8th to share together fun, food, and fellowship! Come and join us!
Our ladies BUNCO group will not be meeting in June. Please Contact Judi Sims at [email protected] for more
information.
I’ve been checking with our ACE study leaders about the possibility to start up our adult classes on both Sundays and Thursdays. The leaders have in turn touched base with their students. The general consensus is that we are not yet ready to resume meeting as classes.
The day will come, but for now there is still much apprehension, especially since many of the students fall into the high risk categories for COVID-19. I understand their concern.
So, for now, we will be content with getting comfortable with regular worship as it is defined in these days of the corona virus and safe protocol. Until we can once again come together in comfort and peace of mind, I offer my weekly devotionals as a modest substitute. Take care! Be safe and stay well! God bless! Pastor Lee
The Upgrade Team met on Wednesday, May 20 to further discuss upgrades that could assist in sprucing up our church property. The team agreed that landscaping around the church would improve the exterior appearance while different areas within the church could improve the interior. At the May council meeting we recommended and it was approved that the existing sprinkler system be repaired and in good working condition. This should be completed before the end of the month. We are currently working with area landscaping companies to see what suggestions they might have to improve the exterior. Once the flower beds get spruced up we are anticipating that we will have willing individuals/families sign up to sponsor and maintain the established areas around the property. So start considering which areas you would be interested in. As we make recommendations to the council and get approvals we will update the rest of the congregation via the monthly Epistle. We are anxious to start making some progress and hope you are looking forward to it as well.
