Last weekend was the Parish Picnic at Bowline Point Park—and what a fantastic time! There were about 150 parishioners who participated. There were a good number of kids who enjoyed the water slide and also the amazing magic show by Paul the

Magic Clown. Can-Jam also kept a number of people busy with stiff competition, which included one game finished when it was slotted. And there was great music and conversations. Of course, the food was fantastic—cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers, differ-ent salads and a great selection of desserts. We were also happy to have a visit from the Vicar General, aka Fr. Joseph LaMorte. After discussion with some volunteers, we will probably just do advance sales next year, rather than, at the door, that really helps with figur-ing out what to get. Thanks are extended to the Town of Haverstraw for all the help they offered in preparation for the picnic and great service when we were there. Thanks are also extended to all the parish volunteers who planned and worked the picnic, well done St. Gregory’s! Well with the coming of September—we have planned the annual trip to Manhattan. I received confirmation from Msgr. Robert Ritchie, Rector of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, that we can come together to celebrate Mass on Wednesday, December 4 at 10:30 AM in the Lady’s Chapel. Watch the bulletin for bus information. Finally, I made reference to a book last Sunday. If anyone might be curious, it is a book by Edward Sri called Into His Likeness.

Yours in Christ, Father Fallon

BECOMING CATHOLIC Are you interested in com-ing closer to Christ by becoming Catholic? Or are you a baptized Catholic who needs Holy Com-munion or Confirmation? In the Fall we will be-

gin classes (called: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA). Formation classes are also open to anyone who would simply like to learn more about our faith. Classes occur once a week on Sunday mornings. After the completion of study, sacra-ments are conferred at the Easter Vigil in the Spring. Call the rectory for further information: 947-1873 or email: [email protected].

“ Discovering Christ gave me the spiri-tual food I needed to satisfy my hun-ger. Discovering Christ and sharing Him with others who also thirst is a life-changing experience.” (Josine: St. Peter’s/St. Mary)

We invite you to journey with us for 7 weeks to renew, strengthen, satisfy your hunger and build your relationship with God Our Father and Jesus Christ. Our sessions will be held at St. Gregory Barbarigo gym, beginning Sunday, September 22 with dinner at 6pm. Registration is limited. Check your parish offices for an application or call Deacon George or Mariann Albin at 845-362-1982 or Josine Young at 845-786-2878.

Msgr. Edward Weber On Tuesday, September 10, the Vicar General, Msgr. Joseph LaMorte, sent an email to all priests in the Archdiocese with unfortunate news. Our friend, Msgr. Weber, has been accused by a man for inap-propriate behavior which purportedly occurred about forty years ago. This is the only accusation which has been directed at Msgr. Weber. The email included a let-ter from Msgr. Weber in which he denied ever doing any-thing criminal or immoral and has no recall of the man who has accused him. In accord with the Safe Environ-ment protocols of the Archdiocese of New York, Msgr. Weber will not be celebrating his priestly ministry in a public capacity until this matter has been resolved. Msgr. Weber asks for prayers for the man who accused him and prayers also for himself. Furthermore, Msgr. Weber af-firms: “I have trust in the canonical and civil legal proc-esses and faith that my name will be cleared in due course.” Msgr. Weber also continues to deal with health issues. Please keep Msgr. Weber in your prayers as he endures this very difficult time and by the Grace of God, in time he will be back with us here at St. Gregory Barbarigo.
