Prayers for the ChurchAnglican Church in North America: Bishop Neil Lebhar and the clergy, religious, and people of the Gulf Atlantic Diocese, one of the 20 dioceses in the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).The Anglican Alliance, formed in 2001 at the urging of Bishop Stephen Jecko, then bishop of the (Episcopal) Diocese of Florida, was a gathering of conservatives opposed to the increasingly liberal decisions made by The Episcopal Church. One of the final actions of Bishop Jecko before retiring in 2004 was to join with 11 other orthodox bishops in establishing the Network of Anglican Communion Dioceses and Parishes. In 2005, Fr. Dudley, following the example of a smaller Episcopal parish months earlier, led most of his flock out of the Episcopal Diocese of Florida to form St. Peter’s Anglican Church, under the auspices of the Anglican Church of Uganda, with the help of Bishop Jecko. Other parishes and groups followed suit. Fr. Dudley brought together other key clergy to form the Anglican Alliance of North Florida, comprising both Anglican and Episcopal groups. In 2009, the Anglican Alliance of North Florida and the Anglican Alliance of South Georgia met in Synod to facilitate the transition from a “diocese in formation” to a full diocese, and selected the name “The Gulf Atlantic Diocese of the Anglican Church in North America.” Fr. Neil Lebhar was elected the first diocesan bishop. Later that year, the Provincial Council of the ACNA accepted the diocese and ratified the election of Bishop Lebhar. The diocese now includes more than 40 congregations and more than 100 clergy in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. In January 2018, Bishop Lebhar announced that St. Peter’s, in Tallahassee, had been chosen as the new cathedral. The average Sunday attendance in the diocese is over 3,000. Since its inception in 2005, St. Peter’s has grown from the original 700 members to more than 2,000 today. (Source: Diocesan website.)Please pray especially for continued evangelism and new church plants. Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes: Fr. David Kulchar and the people of All Souls Anglican, Brownsburg, Indiana; and Fr. Kim Akers and the people of St. George, Muncie, Indiana.Parish Cycle of Prayer: Donna Gough; Ana and David Grum; the St. Andrew’s Youth, who are on their Alpha Retreat this weekend; and our Prayer Ministries.

Encouragement for your prayer time with GodJesus died so you could know God better, so you could be alone with him without sin being the elephant in the room. There is no longer any barrier between his goodness and our hearts. “But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.” (2 Corinthians 3:16-18a).

Adult Forum, Godly Play for children resume today Our Sunday morning Grow in Faith discipleship hour resumes at 10:15 a.m. today, after a break last week for Easter.

Fr. Ernie Tracy will lead the Adult Forum in a four-week survey of “The Three Streams of Anglicanism.” He’ll be looking at the evangelical, sacramental and charismatic streams, briefly touching on the origin of the “three streams” concept, highlighting the strengths of each approach, and seeking to discover how all believers benefit from a balance of the three.

Our children in Godly Play (toddlers through 5th Grade) will examine “The Circle of the Holy Eucharist” this week, before turning their attention next Sunday to the Parables of Jesus, including the Parable of the Great Pearl; the Parable of the Sower, the Parable of the Leaven, the Parable of the Mustard Seed, and the Parable of the Deep Well.

Today’s presentation on the Holy Eucharist helps children pull together the sequence of liturgical actions and images

that they see during Sunday morning worship. They’ll also connect the story of the Synagogue and the Upper Room with our Communion service.

No youth classes today Our middle and senior high youth, who are on their Youth Alpha Weekend, will resume their regular Sunday morning gatherings next week.

reachIN ministry meeting this Tuesday“reachIN” is a new ministry idea prompted by Fr. Ron and the Vestry to help connect and serve our parish members. Those interested in coming to hear more are invited to attend our initial meeting on Tuesday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 102 at the church.

If you have questions or want to RSVP, please email Tally Whitehead at [email protected] or call her at the church office, 740-548-5112, ext. 5.

Youth Alpha retreat this weekendSt. Andrew’s Youth are continuing their adventure exploring faith, relationships and the wild, wonderful future that our good God is leading us into together at their Youth Alpha Weekend, which began this past Friday and concludes today when they return to the church at around Noon. The retreat at Lutheran Memorial Camp in Fulton features topics including “Why and How Do I Read the Bible;” “Who is the Holy Spirit and What Does He Do?;” “How Can I Be Filled With the Holy Spirit?” and “How and Why Do I Tell Others (about Christ)?”

Our middle and senior high students have been gathering weekly since the beginning of Lent for the Youth Alpha (Film) Series, a multimedia rich immersion into the basics of Christianity featuring young hosts traversing the planet while opening questions of faith, meaning and purpose for youth audiences to unpack.

Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will enliven the Scriptures and open the hearts and minds of our youth so they can come to know Jesus Christ in a way that transforms their lives from the inside out.”

Social Club Misfits in C-bus April 18In addition to Rend Collective (see article at left), St. Andrew’s Youth have an opportunity to see a new Christian hip hop group called the Social Club Misfits on Wednesday, April 18, at The Basement in Columbus. Tickets are $17 each, plus fees. If you’d like to go, please contact Fr. Shane Tucker at 740-548-5112, ext. 4, or [email protected].

You can learn more about the group at socialclubmisfits.com, on Spotify, and everywhere else you listen to your music. Make sure you listen to a few tracks, especially “War Cry” and “Misfit Anthem,” two of Fr. Shane’s favorites.

Rend Collective in concert April 12 While involved in youth ministry across the island of Ireland, Fr. Shane Tucker had the opportunity on numerous occasions to work alongside many of the great people who now make up the eclectic worship gang known as the Rend Collective. They have now traveled all over America and Europe, sharing with thousands the Good News that God’s love has come to us in Jesus.

These light-hearted, fun-loving friends of Jesus will be performing at Grove City Church of the Nazarene this coming Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m. Fr. Shane invites youth who are interested in experiencing a completely different and unique form of celebrating God’s love in our lives to join him in attending the concert.

Tickets are $22 for general admission, and will need to be purchased ASAP, as they will likely sell out. We may even have a chance to say hello to the band!

Please contact Fr. Shane at 740-548-5112, ext. 4, or [email protected], or reach him via the GroupMe app, to let him know if you’d like to go!
