Event Overview

Art: A Celebration of hope

Step Up will be hosting a fundraising event titled Art: A

celebration of hope. The event will take place on December 5 at 6:00 p.m. and will

begin with an exhibition of artwork created by a few of the

children helped by the Step Up organization. There will be a

cocktail reception and auction. Accompanying the auctioned art

will be the hope-filled story of the child who drew it. Step Up is

hoping to draw 150-200 of its closest friends to this event. Step

Up will make money through ticket sales and the art auction.

Event Budget

The three foremost expenses of the event budget will be*:

The Venue : This will be the biggest cost because,

depending on the location, renting a venue can cost several

thousands of dollars. However, Step Up plans to use good

stewardship and lower the cost by renting a school

gymnasium and transforming it into an art gallery for the

night. Therefore, our budget for the venue is 500-1500

dollars.

Food : This can be a large expense, depending on the menu

selected. However, Step Up will use the services of a

culinary school to help lower the cost. Through doing this,

Step Up will be able to obtain gourmet food for a lower

price than it would have got from a standard caterer.

Therefore, Step Up will set its total food budget at 1500 -

2,500 dollars (or around 10 dollars per person).

Decoration: Because Step Up plans to transform a

gymnasium into an art gallery, decoration will be one of the

largest expenses. Therefore, Step Up’s budget for

decorations is 500-1000 dollars. Step Up is able to spend

more for decorating because it is spending less on the

venue.

*Step Up hopes to obtain corporate sponsorships to absorb some of the event’s costs.
