The South African Business Summit (SABSA) is South Africa's premier corporate event, drawing hundreds of economic and business leaders from across the country and beyond. Co-organised by the African Business Council, the African CEO Council and Africa Media Corporation, and in collaboration with strategic partners across South Africa and overseas, SABSA provides unparalleled opportunities for South African business execu-tives and public sector leaders to engage in dialogue with policymakers and ministers of finance, energy, indus-try and trade, and discover business opportunities through networking and to forging connections with eco-nomic thought leaders from across the country and the world. The Summit brings together top CEOs and senior corporate executives of leading South African companies and their foreign counterparts to generate fresh and innovative ideas and also deliberate on current and emerging issues and challenges facing South Africa’s business climate and socioeconomic growth—especially those issues hindering the country from gaining its own fair-share in the global economy. The South African Business Sum-mit also serves as a distinctive networking experience among leading South African business executives and global business leaders interested in exploring and/or deepening international cooperation. In addition to providing insights across the South African market, the Summit presents participants the oppor-tunity to have a first-hand experience on the exciting business and investment opportunities in South Africa. It also creates a platform where delegates meet high-level decision makers; develop business opportunities; ex-pand their network and business contacts; get updated on the latest South African business issues; attract pub-lic and private funding; and receive media coverage, among many other benefits. Furthermore, the main aim of the South African Business Summit is “to boost business in South Africa by bring-ing together leading South African business leaders, key policymakers and their foreign counterparts to deliber-ate on South Africa’s socioeconomic needs, and to mobilise and encourage corporate leaders to play an active role in improving South Africa’s business climate — ensuring sustainable economic growth and human devel-opment across the country and beyond.” Moreover, the Summit showcases business and investment opportunities across South Africa, and organises a one-on-one business matchmaking among participating executives and delegates. Finally, we expect that this year’s event will result in identifying and finding solutions to the problems affecting South Africa’s "business climate" and "global competitiveness." By participating in this year’s Summit delegates will be able to explore and take advantage of the numerous business and investment opportunities across the country.

ORGANISERS PROFILE

Africa Media Corporation

Africa Media Corporation is a leading pan-African media, information and com-munications company with some of the strongest brand names in magazine publishing and corporate events. The Group is committed to providing the most outstanding, the most relevant and the most valuable media brands. Over the years it has helped create awareness and generate public opinion on

critical issues and choices in business, industry, the economy and society, all the while setting higher standards and leading the way with new ideas.

African Council of Chief Executives, Inc.

The African Council of Chief Executives (African CEO Council) is Africa’s most influential and leading association of business leaders committed to sustainable economic growth and human development in Africa. Pres-ently based in New York City, USA, the Council serves as an international alliance of chief executive officers (CEOs) of leading African businesses

operating both across the continent and overseas. The Council mobilizes the commercial, industrial and profes-sional leadership of Africa to bring about tangible and rapid socioeconomic improvements across the continent. The African CEO Council’s mission is “to serve as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth in Africa through enabling African business leaders as primary economic competitors in the global economy, and as influential actors and corporate leaders in Africa’s sustainable development endeavors.”

African Business Council

The African Business Council (ABCON) is an independent pan-African business association uniting and representing the interests of African businesses operating both across the continent and overseas. Pioneered by the African CEO Council as a corporate body, and currently based in New York City, USA, ABCON promotes the role of business in socioeco-

nomic development and speaks as a unique global voice for African business. ABCON's mission and mandate exceeds that of a contemporary chamber of commerce. It partners with deci-sion makers and represents corporate Africa before regional and international policymaking bodies as means to put business concerns on Africa regional and international agendas. In doing so however, the Council works with African policymakers to institute common standards and regulations that are essential to and enable the private sector plan and develop products and services for both African and international markets in the long-term.
