The theme of this month’s issue of So6ix fashion. So I asked myself, “What is the purpose of fashion?” As everyone would probably guess, it is to portray beauty. This raised the question in my mind, “Why do women care so much about fashion?” The most logical answer is because women want to feel beautiful. Every woman wants to be that beautiful princess who gets “swept off her feet” by Prince Charming. She wants to know that she is the most beautiful part of his world. Guys need to be more aware of this, which is why I’m directing this ar-ticle specifically towards the men.
It is pretty obvious that compliments are the best way to tell a woman she is beautiful, but guys tend to be too gener-al in their comments. For example, they say things like “You are so beautiful,” or “You look pretty today,” or “Of course I think you’re gorgeous.” These aren’t the compliments women are looking for all the time. Women want to know how they are beautiful, or why they are beau-tiful. Pay attention to detail. Women will change little things about their ap-pearance to catch their man’s attention. Start giving detailed compliments such as “That dress looks amazing on you,” or “Your hair looks great today honey,” or tell her what part about her is so beauti-ful to you, such as her eyes, legs, hips, nose, etc…(don’t be vulgar in your com-ments). Women want to hear more than just “You’re pretty.” They want to know why and how, and that is why they are so interested in fashion; it gives them an opportunity to increase their beauty in your eyes. So guys, start paying attention to detail, and make your compliments come from your heart and active think-ing, not just speaking in generalities.
Another way to make your woman feel beautiful, is to be active in your compliments. Don’t wait for her to ask you “How do I look?” or “Do you think I’m beautiful?” Give compliments readily; be sharp and on top of your game, and pay
attention to her. Let’s be honest guys, you know exactly when you should give her compliments, so don’t let your pride get in the way and just speak up when you know you should. Women don’t want to have to fight for your attention or have to ask you to notice them; they already put in the effort to look beauti-ful for you. It’s your responsibility to pay attention and make them feel gorgeous. This goes beyond just giving compli-ments. When you are out and about, pay attention to her, especially in pub-lic places. This makes her feel confident and secure in herself. Don’t let your eyes wander, and stay focused on her, so that she feels like the most beautiful woman in the world. Have “eyes only for her.” It easy to pay attention to her when you are alone together, but it is much harder in public places where there are many other distractions.
In conclusion, remember to make it a goal in your relationship to “Make her feel beautiful.” Be specific in your com-pliments and pay attention to detail (don’t generalize). Also, be quick to no-tice her and tell her how you feel before she asks. Last but not least, pay special attention to her in public and make her feel safe and secure with you. Raise her confidence and make her feel like a prin-cess. Have eyes only for her!

ALL MAKES ALL MODELSONE LOCATION

1. Make a list of all your important goals, projects and things that need to get done.
2. Arrange and rearrange furniture to create a better flow in your home and of-fice. Get filing cabinets and bookshelves to allow for space to organize important books and materials.
3. Don’t be a pack rat. Throw away or pack up unused files, magazines, letters, etc. for storage or disposal. This can free up a lot of space and make it easier to find things you are looking for immediately.
4. Color code and categorize your files for easier sorting. Learn to identify each color with things like bills, bookings, re-sources, business, personal, etc. Green could be for anything dealing with mon-ey. Blue for goals, booking and schedul-ing. Red for important tasks that must get done.
5. Label everything in your system to find it easier. Don’t just write names, but associate codes with it as well. The more you accumulate, eventually just names won’t be an effective sorting system. An example would be Taxes, changed to taxes 2010, or taxes 06/2010. Another example, goals to business goals, home goals, dream goals to adding years and dates to them so you can later compare and improve.
6. Have a master list for your sorting system that you can refer to and find things easier. A filing system can make things much easier, especially in busi-ness if you expand your company size significantly.
7. Don’t clutter your work area and desktop. A master list can help you much easier than having everything piled up. Only have what you are currently work-ing on and with on your desk. This allows for better focus and less distraction.
8. Develop a schedule and time frames to work on each one of your tasks. Just
like only taking lunch for 30 minutes or an hour. Give yourself so much time for exercise, then in turn so much time for emails and correspondence, and each task should have a set time that you work on it each day. Some things may require focus until they are done, but re-member if you exhaust yourself you will not be productive to your best capability. Get proper rest, but not too much. Like Jim Rohn says, “If you rest too long, the weeds take the garden.”
9. When you check your mail, respond promptly to things that require it and make a list of things you need to. Now is the time to throw away junk mail. So when you are dealing with mail and things in your inbox. DEAL with the MAIL. Get your letters in the outbox and let them do the work they need to do for you as well.
10. Everyday, clean off your desk for the next day. Empty your trash so you don’t come in to waste from the previ-ous day. This keeps things looking clean and tidy. It also keeps you focused and unwanted smells from lingering.
11. Evaulate yourself. Ask yourself how you are being productive, what is work and what is not. Make a list of what to improve on or get rid of.
12. Always reflect on the previous day, week and month. This allows you a re-view.
By taking these steps you can get your-self in a much more productive and less stressful environment. Make work a joy for yourself not a chore. Open the door for yourself with the right keys.

Just these two aspects are ammuni-tion enough for me to professionally rec-ommend this type of training to people who want to lose body fat. Try it out for yourself for a couple of weeks and see if it can work for you. Below is a guide on structuring interval training and a sample workout that you can try.
GuIdELINES• Always warm-up before tearing it up
• Use these ratios to construct your work/rest times. Beginner/Deconditioned-1:4-5, Intermediate-1:3, Advanced-1:2
• Never work so hard that you feel un-safe; if you lose mental clarity –back off!
• Start with 10-12 minutes for the total workout portion and as you get better with it, add more intervals as necessary, topping out at 20 minutes.
• Try different modes –stationary bike, elliptical, running, stair climbing, row-ing, etc.
• Cool down before you leave
Warm-up: 5 minutes steady state cardio or calisthenics
Workout: 10 total intervals of 15 sec-onds all out effort and 45 seconds recov-ery effort. Try this on your favorite piece of cardio equipment, or outside enjoying the nice fall weather.
Cool down: 5 minutes slow steady state cardio or calisthenics

Interval training is a very useful tool when the goal is fat loss. With intermit-tent bouts of high and low intensity, it allows you to tap into your body’s po-tential for physical exercise while giving you ample time to recover before you do it again.
In interval training, you work anaero-bically as well as aerobically. You literally wave back and forth through these two energy systems. This is a very simplified explanation of these two systems but for our purpose here, these definitions will suffice.
Aerobic – with oxygen. Breathing fu-els the effort.
Anaerobic – without oxygen. Breath-ing does not fuel the effort.
This model of training your body gives you two nice results:
1. You spare muscle mass, muscles that adapt anaerobically (without oxygen). When you work at a pace that you can-not sustain, no matter how hard or fast you breathe, you are working anaerobi-cally. This means that to fuel your ef-forts, your muscles are using a localized energy source stored inside them. This is good if you want to maintain those mus-cles. For example, consider the body of a sprinter vs. the body of a long distance runner. Sprinters run at intensities that cannot be sustained for very long, and obviously the long distance folks do.
2. EPOC (Excess Post Oxygen Consump-tion). This effect is where the greatest potential for fat loss occurs. By working at high intensities, the amount of oxy-gen you uptake POST exercise, or after you’ve finished, is greater than before you started. What does this greater up-take mean? It means you finish out the day at a higher metabolic rate than be-fore you started. Your metabolic engine has been revved, and as it cools back down (which can take hours), the rate at which it’s going is still higher than be-fore you started! JASON BOAG IN

The holiday season is soon approach-ing and all of us want to put our best face forward for all those parties. When time is of the essence, these quick make-up tips will take you from work to wow!
• A smokey eye really dresses up your look for night. Apply a deeper pigmented shadow, such as my “cocoa quartz” to the lower lid and smudge to the lower lash line with my precision shadow brush.
• One of my favorite tricks to define the eye is to line the upper inner eyelid with my “coal” liner. Also fill in the lashes with the pencil. It also makes your lashes look fuller and your eyes pop!
• Curl lashes and apply a coat of mas-cara sweeping the wand up and out. My High Def Mascara won’t make your lashes clumpy.
• Clean shadow that may have fallen un-der your eyes with eye makeup remover to avoid a raccoon look. Dab concealer to the inner corner of eye and blend it down around your nose. Use a little light shimmer shadow to brighten the eye.
• Apply mineral pressed powder with a puff to your face to smooth out skin and eliminate shine and redness.
• Smile :) Apply shimmer red blush to the apple of your cheeks and to your brow-bone. This brings the colors together.
• Touch up your lips with one of my lux-ury glosses in a sheer red, such as “Eu-phoric” or a sheer gold.
• To keep your makeup looking fresh all night, set your makeup with my makeup setting spray and dance the night away!

Get Ready for an exciting spring fash-ion season ladies and gents!!!! Even though this fall season is full of beau-tiful military inspired earth tones and metallics, a bright printed spring is just around the corner.
One of the reasons fashion is so fasci-nating to me is because it is ever chang-ing and typically extremely diversified. This fall there is truly something for ev-eryone. Collections from Michael Kors, Diesel, and The Gap offer many neutrals and camel accessories - very clean and classic with big khaki sweaters. Comme des Garcons on the other hand offers a very stark black and white checkerboard and scull printed collection. Although sculls remain very popular as inspira-tion, I feel Alexander McQueen’s last col-lection did it best.
A “must see” collection this fall is John Galliano’s Menswear Collection. Groucho Marx lives as the inspiration. Galliano tells a beautiful story through fashion as each ensemble walks the runway. It is like a black and white silent film from the early 20th century, only in full color.
The most beautiful digital color prints are what makes this spring something to look forward to. From Chanel shorter
than short shorts for women to bright color blocked suits for men and wom-en from Louis Vuitton. Alexander Mc-Queen’s collection also doesn’t disap-point with crazy prints taken to the next level with pheasant feathers and struc-tured voluminous silhouettes.
My plan for the rest of this fall season is to wear beautiful earth toned mili-tary inspired looks through December, and then start accessorizing with bright prints and colors in January until Spring is here and the prints are abundant. This is the way to transition from season to season. If you would like to see more of what this fall and spring 2011 collec-tions offer download the free style.com app. Style.com offers video of all the lat-est shows, blogs, and much much more.

Just take one trip down the multi-ple hair product isles at your nearest convenient store, and the astound-ing number of products available for purchase will let you know that great hair is in high demand. So what do you do to get it?
The Latest TrendsFor starters, you want to make cer-
tain that your hair is not out-of-date. Nobody wants to be the person with retro hair by accident. So, what’s hot now? For women, take a break from the daily routine of flat ironing your hair, and go for the tousled look. Moveable hair with wave, flexibility, and soft lines is in trend. Continue to go for the ponytail or the bun for the business day, and then let it down for evening play. The wrapped bun, in particular, will help to create subtle waves and texture when you take it out. Add just a touch of the right product, and you’re good to go. For men, don’t overdo the hairdo. Just like current trends for women, move away from stiff overly gelled hair, and toward a more moveable and flexible look. This doesn’t mean that you have no style – just not set-in-stone style. And when moving from business to play, add just a little of the right product to give yourself a little pizzazz.
Products Wondering just what products are
the “right” ones for achieving that good hair appeal? Well, the best an-swer is to make sure you have a good hair stylist who knows what prod-ucts are available on the market and is well educated in regard to what products will work best for various hair types. But, here are a few sug-gestions that can prove helpful to almost everyone:
1. Bed Head for Men/Matte Separa-tion Workable Wax. This is a great
workable wax, as noted by its name. To use, work a small amount of the wax into your hands, and work it all the way through the area of your hair (like the front) that you want styled in the direction that you want it styled. This product comes in a small container that includes a flip top. No more wasting valuable time unscrewing the lid.
2. Rockaholic TIGI Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo and Conditioner. Most people, especially women, wash their hair much too frequently. Three main factors that damage your hair are water, heat, and sun. TIGI makes a great dry shampoo and conditioner that will help you maintain healthy hair. For use, spray the shampoo in the roots. It will help your hair to smell nice, and it will absorb the oil. For the conditioner, spray mid-strand down to the ends of your hair.
3. “Keratin Complex” repair therapy by COPPOLA Designer Hair Care. This is an ionic keratin protein re-structuring serum that rebuilds elas-ticity and tensile strength to hair. Many of us have chemically dam-aged hair, and need keratin and col-lagen therapy to replenish what’s lost. This particular product has 18% keratin made of sheep wool, and does wonders for hair restoration.
4. Curlesque by TIGI CATWALK. This is a new shampoo and con-ditioner that hydrates and defines natural curls. It’s a sulfate-free for-mula made with the rich botanicals of seaweed and sea fennel. It helps calm frizz and create smooth, relax-ing curls.
Follow these tips given by Miran-da Augusta from “Hair Lounge by Miranda” for the latest trends and good products, and you’ll be well on your way to good hair.

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.”
-mary lou cookRyan Walker could have been born in
any era and the facts would remain the same—he is an inventor, experimenter, risk taker, all the while having fun. Walk-er’s creativity and innovative presence can be seen and heard in a plethora of places: via Shoe Gypsy in Nichols Hills Plaza, TV show favorites like Scrubs and the Real World, and local music venues with a full band and ardent fans in tow.
Ryan’s musical talents as well as his entrepreneurships are local gems. In fact Ryan himself is a rare find. He is the
owner of the Shoe Gypsy, a wonderfully quirky, hip, inviting shoe store whose ex-istence proves hope for small business owners in a challenging economy. His recipe? He genuinely enjoys what he does—each multi-faceted endeavor.
“I absolutely love our shoe store that we started 9 years ago. Shoe Gypsy for me is a little oasis. The people that come in are the best. Most of our customers are trying to experiment and have fun with fashion and life and catch a break from the norm, so we try to provide them with a few tools to do that.”
Ryan takes one pipe dream at a time and chisels them into reality with en-thusiasm and persistence.
“I was joking with my wife about get-ting a song on Scrubs and sure enough it happened. It was a song from our sec-ond album ‘Looking on the bright side’. The song was Sun Won’t Shine. It was amazing to see something that started in my living room end up on national television.”
A collaborator and innovator in one, Walker fuses paradoxical elements into his music: he’s honest yet shrouded lyri-cally, dusky yet hopeful melodically, raw yet ethereal vocally.
Walker attributes much of his creative spark to his early years, his mom spe-cifically, who inspired humor, resilience, and positivity throughout his childhood. Her boisterous entrepreneurial way of living ignited a similar resolve in Ryan.
When asked what is next from Walker he truthfully responds, “Keep on chip-pin, I really enjoy my life. I am so glad to wake up everyday to see what is next.”
With feature film producers and other musicians pursuing Walker’s unique song writing ability, regardless of what is next, you can bet Walker will be looking on the bright side.
