Snapshot Week 5 Term 2
Friday 29 May 2020
Pupil Free Days
Some families have asked for clarification around Pupil Free Days and whether all the
allocated days were used in week 11, term 1.
On March 26, the time when COVID -19 cases were prevalent throughout Australia, the
Minister for Education John Gardner granted four PFD for schools to focus on the transitioning
from onsite to remote home learning. These days were in addition to the four days we are
annually allocated.
Clarification is being sought from our Chief Executive, Rick Persse, regarding the planned
day of local significance school closure as a result of the Royal Adelaide Show being
cancelled for 2020.
Tuesday 9 June - Pupil Free Day (Moderation day with partnership schools)
Friday 4 September - School Closure (Day of local significance: Royal Adelaide Show)
Friday 4 December - Pupil Free Day (Site review of data)
Please note that our OSHC service is now fully booked on Tuesday 9 June.
Road Safety
Please ensure that you follow road safety and parking rules in the streets surrounding Rose
Park Primary School. Parents must not stop to drop off or pick up children unless their vehicle
is parked in an appropriate space, or the vehicle is in the ‘kiss and drop’ zone for no more
than two minutes. Double parking presents a hazard for students and for other drivers; the
parking area near the café on Alexandra Avenue only has spaces for four vehicles at a time,
and drivers must not park or stop behind parked vehicles.

them.

Year 3 Update
Students in Year 3 have been busy
exploring ‘How the World Works’. In
particular, how scientific principles create
change. We have read non-fiction texts on
the topic of heat, and how these texts are
structured. We are currently writing our own
non-fiction books.
We’ve been learning about heat. I learnt that heat is a source of
energy and power. I enjoyed doing the ice melting experiment – Emma, Room 4B
I have learnt how things produce heat. Burning, electricity and friction
produce heat – Maanas, Room 4A
I liked everything – Sebastian, Room 3
I liked visiting Shelly and putting my hand under the heat lamp and
seeing how she keeps warm – Emily, Room 3
I liked doing my atom project. Also learning new things and learning about solids, liquids
and gases - Charlie, Room 3
I loved playing with lego and making models - Harry, Room 3
I loved the heat hunt, experiments, making a thermos and seeing Shelly - Heliya, Room 3

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data: School Students with Disability
(NCCD)
All schools are required to collect information about the numbers of students that they
provide adjustments to under the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and Disability Standards
of Education This data is used as the basis for national funding.
The NCCD involves the collection of:
the number of students receiving adjustments to enable them to participate ineducation on the same basis as other students
the level of adjustment provided to students
student’s type of disability if known
Under the model the definition of disability is broad and includes learning difficulties, health
and mental health conditions. If your child is identified for inclusion in the collection, the
required information will be included in this year’s data collection.
If you have any questions about the data collection, please contact Barry Stewart on 8331
7521. Further information can be found at the address below:
