LAUSD Beyond the Bell Branch Latino Art Beat

The Latino Art Beat Los Angeles Student Art Exhibit and Recognition that took place on Thursday, October 3, 2013 nominated four of our Arleta High School students. The theme of the competition was called” What Hispanic Heritage and Culture Means to Me!” .The name of our four students were: Alejandra Rosales, Christian Sanchez, Liliana Crespo, and Monique A. Basulto.

Christian Sanchez, one of our four students was nominated 1st place winner.El Distrito Escolar de Los Angeles tuvo una exhibicion de arte el dia jueves, octubre 3, 2013 y cuatro de nuestros estudiantes fueron sobresalientes. El tema de la competicion de arte se llamo: Que es ser Latino y que es para mi , mi cultura!. Los nombres de los estudiantes son: Alejandra Rosales, Christian Sanchez, Liliana Crespo, y Monique A. Basulto. Christian Sanchez obtuvo el primer lugar en la competicion de arte.

ARLETA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Egg Drop Project

This Project took place Turing the current spring semestre.

In this Project, the advisory students Guild a container to

hold a single grade A henos egg that will enable that egg to

survive a 30 foot fall onto a cement floor.

Este proyecto se llevo acabo en el semestre de primavera.

En este proyecto los alumnos de la clase de orientación vo-

cacional construyeron un recipiente para meter un huevo de

gallina grado A, este recipiente ayudo al huevo a sobrevivir

una caída hacia un piso de cemento desde una altura de 30

Cesar E. Chavez

To honor Cesar E. Chavez, students in the Foreign Lan-

guage Departments, together with the school’s community,

designed posters, PowerPoint lessons, and created visuals.

They shared knowledge of Cesar Chavez through a visual

representation and wrote essays about the heroic figure.

Three of Mr. Martinez students were nominated with honor

awards. Their names were: Alejandra Rosales which won

f1st. place winner. 2nd Place Award was Lily Crespo, 3rd

Place Award was Victoria Guerrero.

El department de language extrangero, junto con la comuni-

dad trabajaron unidos con la comunidad de San Fernando

para honrar a Cesar E. Chavez. La estudiante que obtuvo el

primer premio de arte de la clase del Sr. Martinez fue

Alejandra Rosales. El Segundo lugar lo obtuvo Lili Crespo

y el tercero Victoria Guerrero de la clase de la preparatoria.

Bridge Building Contest

During the fall semestre, SMART held a bridge building

contest by advisories. This contest took approximately two

weeks. Each advisory built 2-4 Bridges using onlly popsi-

cles and glue. The winner of the contest was Ms. Guiwa’s

Advisory! Second place, which was a three way tie, went to

Mr. Berriman’s Advisory. Ms. Celia Vasquez’s Advisory,

and Ms. Guijaro’s Advisory.

Durante el semestre de Otono , SMART tuvo un concurso

de construccion de puentes entre las classes de orientacion

vocacional. El concurso duro aproximadamente dos sema-

nas. Cada clase de orientación vocacional construyo de 2 a

4 puentes usando solamente palitos de paletas y pegamen-

to.Cada clase de orientación vocacional le entrego su puen-

te al Senor Edge. Luego el Senor Edge les hizo la prueba a

cada puente usando pesas. Los ganadores del concurso fue-

ron los alumnos de la clase de la Señora Guiriva. En se-

gundo lugar empataron las clases de la maestra Celia Vaz-

quez, La señora Guijaro, y el señor Berriman.
