Pennsylvania State Leadership Conference

• Communicates SHRM’s goals and objectives to volunteers• Assists potential chapters in becoming affiliated• Assists individual members with questions about membership• Assists chapters in remaining affiliated and with chapter

operations• Attends state council and regional council meetings as a

resource• Participates in state conferences as an exhibitor• Speaks at meetings, conferences, and events as available• Promotes SHRM member benefits• Assists in the recruitment and retention of members• Communicates HR trends to SHRM

• Establishes policy, strategies and objectives consistent with SHRM

• Provides guidance to elected and volunteer members on the council

• Assists chapter presidents with questions

• Can provide presentation on “SHRM: Your Career Partner” to your members

• Ensures that chapters submit Chapter Achievement Plans (CAP) on time

• SHRM depends upon each of its affiliates to operate in a professional manner; effectively manage its finances; maintain

• affiliation standards; communicate with members, the community and SHRM; and promote SHRM. Completing all 11 items in

• the Basic Requirements section is a baseline of operations and will help you chapter build a stronger foundation for success.

• All 11 items are required to maintain “good standing” with SHRM.

Section 2: Mission-Driven Chapter Initiatives

• All elements of this section are required as a baseline for any award level.

• SHRM strongly encourages each of its affiliates to establish goals and strategic initiatives in support of SHRM’s mission and

• objectives. These goals will allow the chapter to increase its visibility and effectiveness, as well as promote the HR profession at

• the local level. Your chapter’s success will also be enhanced by conducting planning and transition meetings to insure long term

• sustainability.

Section 3: SHRM Affiliate Support

• All elements of this section are required as a baseline for any award level.• SHRM’s partnership with its affiliates is critical. These goals ensure a stronger

connection between SHRM and its• affiliated chapters from a business perspective.• Briefly, the requirements are as follows:• • Promote the SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition to chapter members.• • Offer prime booth space and a minimum of 15 minutes podium time to SHRM

staff if you hold a chapter-sponsored• conference or event where your anticipated attendance is 200 or more.• • Report the number of SHRM members in your chapter.• • Develop and/or maintain a current chapter web site.• • Make a monetary contribution from the chapter’s funds to the SHRM

Foundation in 2010.• • Promote HR Certification Institute certification and recertification as a means

of increasing the number of certified• professionals in the chapter.

The Excel Awards recognize achievements by SHRM chapters

at four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

At each level, requirements elevate the chapter to a higher

standard of excellence.
