SERVING our COUNTRY

SUPPORTING our COMMUNITY

It’s who we are. It’s what we do.

2014 Coastal Georgia Combined Federal

Campaign

2

Thank you!

Thank you for your past and future

contributions to the campaign. Through

your generosity, non-profit organizations

across the nation and around the world

have the funds they need to support those

in need and improve the lives of countless

others.

3

What is the CFC? The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the world's

largest and most successful annual workplace charity

campaign, with almost 200 CFCs throughout the country

and overseas.

The CFC provides an authorized platform through which

federal employees may contribute to charitable

organizations

Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military

donors during the campaign season (September 1st to

December 15th) support eligible non-profit organizations

that provide health and human service benefits

throughout the world.

4

Coastal Georgia CFC The Coastal Georgia CFC raised more than $477,000 in

2013 to support charities that provide life-enriching and

life-saving programs for people and communities locally,

across the nation, and around the world.

100 local charities are participating in the 2014 CFC, in

addition to nearly 2,400 national and international

organizations.

Our campaign includes all federal agencies located in a 17

county territory. Agencies include US Army, Postal

Service, Federal Civilian, and other DoD.

5

Inclusion in the CFC Every non-profit organization wishing to be included in

the CFC Charity List must complete an application and be

approved by a committee of federal employees

Application criteria include:

• Demonstration of health/human welfare benefit

• Description of services rendered

• Proof of 501(c)(3) status

• IRS Form 990

• Audited Financial Statements (if applicable)

History of the CFC

Prior to the 1950's, on-the-job fundraising in the federal workplace was an uncontrolled free-for-all

In 1961 President Kennedy signed an executive order creating “combined” campaigns to uniform and streamline the process for solicitation of charitable donations

By 1964 there was a favorable response to the program; in some cities as much as a 120% increase in participation

By 1971 all campaigns had become "combined." President Nixon announced on March 3, 1971, that the CFC would be the uniform fundraising method for the federal service

7

Today there are over 20,000 charities participating in the CFC worldwide

Since its creation in 1961 the CFC has raised over $7 billion for charities

The US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) implements campaign rules and regulations and oversees the program

New approaches and technologies continue to be created to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the campaign

CFC Directors and staff members across the country meet to train, discuss best practices, and share techniques in an annual conference
