ENVIRONMENT OF MY PRESENTATION.

I have got images of the computer an apple mac where I have produced my magazine and where my presentation will be shown from. I have also got an image of a slide changer, so that I don’t have to stand by the computer. Lastly, I have got a image of the interactive whiteboard where my presentation will be showed from.

PROPOSALS

Page 8: Serena Keogh- Magazine Pitch

TARGET READERSHIP• Simply sound Target Audience: 15-18+• Sound Key’s target audience:13-16+ • When it comes to psychographics my target audience would fit into Aspirers

because they are SEEK STATUS. • When it comes to my theory my magazine best fits into Hartley as I am basing

my magazine on around age, gender, and ethnicity. There there isn't a specific person who can read my magazine it is open to everyone.

• Katz: When it comes to Maslow's theory my target audience would be come under ‘Diversion’ this is because they would read my magazine, so that they can escape from reality, such as everyday life whether that is school life, working or life in general. They would feel like they are not worrying about any issues they may have when they read my magazine.

• Hartley’s 7 subjectivities; When it comes to Hartley’s theory I will be mainly focusing on age and gender for my magazine, by this I will be making my magazine accessible to both genders, as well as focusing on a particular age group I want my magazine to be aimed at- (Final Idea – 15-18+)

Maslow’s Theory: ‘Social climbers’ ‘survivors’ and ‘explorers’.My target audience would fit into the category ‘Explores’ this is where the

audience are driven to change caused by social media, and everything which changes in the media. My target audience would fit into this category as they are driven by the change of media, making sure they keep up to date with the latest issues that are happening in the media industry.

They would also be a part of ‘Survivors’ as they will want the security and a routine of knowing that my magazine will be released monthly.

Socio-Economic Need: • My target audience for my magazine would full in to the categories E and D, this

is because as they are of a young age they are likely to still be in education or in a semi-skilled workers, therefore they are unlikely to be earning a lot of money therefore this links in how I have priced my magazine, quite cheap so they will be able to afford it each month.

• Psychographics: • My target audience would be aspires this is because they would look up to

particular people, like their role models and aim to aspire to be like them.

Page 9: Serena Keogh- Magazine Pitch

MASTHEAD AND HOUSE COLOURS1st magazine idea• I want to make sure that my magazine masthead is eye-catching to the reader.• ‘Simply Sound’ is short and snappy therefore rememberable.• I have chosen to call my magazine ‘simply sound’ because my magazine is simply going to

based round music which creates a ‘sound’ as well as this some people use the word ‘sound’ as describing something which is good.

• I have also included alliteration within the masthead of my magazine, using alliteration within the masthead almost gives the masthead rhythm therefore it is a lot easier to remember.

2nd magazine idea• For my second magazine idea I wanted to keep things similar as I target audience for my

second magazine will be the same as my first idea. For my second magazine the house colours are going to be cool toned colours like my first idea the reason for this is that I want the colours to appeal to both genders.

• ‘Sound Key’ is the name of my second magazine I decided to keep with the theme of sound as it is a music magazine and went for ‘key’ as it connotes how sound is key in order to hear the music, I also chose this name it is simple and sort which means my target audience will remember it.

Page 10: Serena Keogh- Magazine Pitch

ADVERTISING AND MARKETING

Marketing ‘Simply Sound’.• My magazine will be competing against ‘Q music magazine due to the

fact I was inspired by some of the features that Q magazine uses such as the placement of the logo, and the different sized fonts.

• The price of my magazine is going to be a lot more cheaper, compared to ‘Q music magazine’ the reason for this is because my target audience are a lot under than Qs target audience therefore if I kept the price as the same as Q’s price I feel that my target audience wont be able to afford it because they would either be employed or have a small job that doesn’t pay a lot unlike Qs target audience.

‘Simply Sound’ 1st magazine name. ‘Sound Key’ 2nd magazine name.

ADVERTISING AND MARKETINGOne way in which I am going to advertise my magazine is via the social media I which is called ‘above the line advertising’ I am going to advertise my music magazine via social media-•Facebook.•Twitter.Benefits of Social media advertising-•Cheap.•Mass audience- therefore my magazine will become more popular.•Typically a quick response as everyone is on-line.•Communication and interaction with my target audience directly, therefore building a relation-ship with them therefore gathering more ideas for more magazines to come.I could advertise my magazine in other magazines, on YouTube (pre roll) or billboards or giving out leaflets although this way will cost a lot more money compared to making a twit-ter/facebook page which is free.

PRE PRODUCTION MATERIALSThis image conveys how I have drafted a dew questions and ideas for my interview, going over what I would ask. After planning I began to write up the interview with a series of questions. I began to draft questions before finalizing what I was actually going to write, I did this so that I wasn’t just asking closed questions like ‘Yes or No'.

MAGAZINE PERSONNELHere I have created my own magazine personnel where I have made placed my magazine logo onto my publishing company which in this case is "Bauer media group"

Page 26: Serena Keogh- Magazine Pitch

SPENDING POWERThe cost of my magazine is £3.25, the reason for putting the

price of my magazine at this price is that I as my target audience are of a young age and most of them most likely wont have a job I didn’t want to price my magazine too high and as my magazine is monthly I think that this is a good price to set my magazine up at.

So therefore in a year If around 19,000 by my magazine in 1 year I will be making

£3.25 x 12=£39.00£39.00 x 19,000 = £741,000

Page 27: Serena Keogh- Magazine Pitch

SUBSCRIPTIONMy readers will be able to subscribe to my magazine on a

monthly basis which means if they do this they will get the magazine at a discounted price and my magazine will be delivered each month to there local store/newsagents or their house.

2 year subscription on credit card for £272, save 73%102 weeks for £2.67 per weekOR my magazine will stay at its regular price of £3.25 if people

decide not to subscript to my magazine.1 person will pay: 102 weeks x £2.67 =£272.34

SO..If 300 people subscribe I will be making £272.34 x 300 =

£81,702

Page 28: Serena Keogh- Magazine Pitch

DISTRIBUTION

My magazine is going to cost £3.25 each.In my magazine I will have 60 pages, of coated art paper, which will be glossy so that it stands out and looks appealing to the auidence.I will be bring out 10,000 copies in 1 year. £3.25 x 10,000 = £32,500 this is how much it will cost me to produce my magazines.
