In this center, you will review with the children the Bible Storylessons of the unit. This is a great opportunity to see what the chil-dren have learned, and to reinforce important lessons and truthsabout the entire unit.

Lesson TextGenesis 1-4

Scripture Memory VerseGod created man in his own image.Genesis 1:27

MaterialsFor the teacher:• Bible• Creation Mobile from Unit 1 Lesson 1

PreparationPractice telling the story with emphasis and enthusiasm.

God’s CreationHave your Bible open to Genesis 1.

Do you know how hard God worked to make our world sobeautiful? This is what the Bible says in the first chapter of Genesis.Read Genesis 1:21, 31 aloud. It says, “God created the great crea-tures of the sea” (v. 21). Explain to the children that “great” meansbig. What are some of the sea’s great creatures? That’s right:whales, sharks and porpoises. Have you ever seen any of thesegreat creatures?

Then the Bible says, “God saw all he had made and it was verygood” (v. 31). God was happy with what he had made, wasn’t he?

Who remembers how many days it took God to make all thesethings? (six) Then what did God do on the seventh day? That’sright: He rested from his work.

Sing the “Creation Song” from the Unit 1 Song Sheet. Ask thechildren if they remember what God created on each day. Sing thesong and point to the Creation Mobile as you sing.

When God made the world, it was perfect. He made it for youand me. How many of you have ever seen the ocean with the bigwaves coming in on the beach? Did you know that God made thewaves for you and me? And when you smell a beautiful flower, remember that God made that flower for you to enjoy.

After God had made the earth, sea, stars, plants and animals,he wanted to make someone he could love and someone whocould love him. Do you remember what he created next? Yes, hecreated man. Do you know what the first man’s name was? That’sright. Adam. Then Adam needed someone to help him and talkwith, so God created Eve.

Now the Bible says that God made Adam and Eve to be likehim. Not only Adam, but you Ray, and you Mary, and you Cynthia, are made to be like God. We have good things in us that God has inhim. When we share our toys, or say kind things to one another, and love our brothers and sisters, and give to the poor, we arebeing like God.

Remember that God gave Adam and Eve a family. He gave themtwo sons. Do you know their names? Yes, Cain and Abel. Let’s sayour Bible verse together before we leave: “God created man in hisown image” (Genesis 1:27).
