LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY LEAVERS
Any child arriving to school after 8.30am is required to attend the office, with a parent/guardian, to obtain
a late pass. If your child is leaving school early, the parent/guardian is required to send a note with their
child on the morning informing the classroom teacher of the time they will be collected and who will be
collecting them. The parent/guardian is required to sign the child out at the office, where arrangements
will be made for the child to come up to office.
ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL
If your child is absent from school for any reason, we require parents/guardians to notify the school office
that they won’t be attending. When your child returns to school, a note must be given to their teacher
detailing the date and the reason for the absence.
If your child has any long term absences from school, (eg. holidays, extended illness etc) a note is
required to be given to their teacher informing them of the absence prior to them commencing the
absence.

PRINCIPAL WRITES
PREP ZOO EXCURSION
Our prep students had a wonderful excursion to the zoo last Friday.
One of the bus drivers commented to a prep teacher that he has
driven a lot of buses for a lot of schools, and that our prep children
from Bellbridge were the "best mannered" he has known. He said that
they were a credit to the teachers and the school.
Lovely feedback after a great day out, and well done to our youngest
year level of students! We are certainly very proud when we hear that
those beyond our school have noticed the way that our students are so
respectful and responsible.
BEAUTIFUL GARDENS AT BELLBRIDGE If you enter our school via Bellbridge Drive you may have noticed how beautiful our garden is looking.
The cherry trees are in blossom, the geraniums are covered in stunning bright red flowers and the
standard roses are beginning to bloom. Our Buildings & Grounds Manager, Mr Rich, works very hard to
develop and maintain our gardens and grounds, and we encourage students and their families to enjoy our
gardens by walking along the many pathways. We also ask parents to remind children not to walk in the
garden beds or touch the plants as we want to make sure that the plants and flowers are able to continue to
bloom and grow without being damaged.
ARE YOU LEAVING BELLBRIDGE PS this year? We are currently planning our grades for next year and need to know if any students or families will not
be attending Bellbridge PS in 2017. If your child will be moving to another school, please write a letter
to your child’s teacher, informing them of the school or area in which your child will be enrolled next
year.
This information is very important as it helps us to make decisions regarding class sizes and student
placements.
FAREWELL TO JOYCE AS OUR LONGSTANDING SCHOOL CROSSING LADY
Followings years of service as a school crossing attendant out the front of Bellbridge PS, we wish to
acknowledge Joyce’s longstanding service and wish her the very best in her retirement. Retiring due to ill
health, Joyce was recently acknowledged by Wyndham City Council for 25 years of service. Joyce has
met with our school and, whilst she has respectfully declined the
“fuss” we’d like to make of her by publicly celebrating her
service and wish her a fond farewell at a school assembly, she has
agreed to be a special guest speaker in our Prep classes in 2017,
where she will talk about road safety and the correct way to use
the school crossing. Joyce was a friendly and familiar face for
thousands of local children over the years, often providing the
first welcome or the last goodbye in a child’s day. She will be
very much missed by all of the students and their families who
came to know her well and appreciate the interest and care she
showed whilst she kept them safe.

NUDE FOOD
During Week 4, Bellbridge Primary School held a special weeklong event – Nude Food Week. The
overall winners for the week were 2A and 6B. These classes have won their choice of either a smoothie or
fruit kebabs to celebrate their fantastic efforts.
In other news, the winners of last week’s Nude Food Wednesday were PB (59%), 1C (45%), 2A (74%),
3D (35%), 4B (26%), 5A (30%) and 6B (80%). These classes won a beehive each.
Well done to everyone that made healthy choices and brought food without packaging!
Did you know?
It is estimated that plastic bags can take up to 1000 years to break down! Nude Food is all about creating
awareness of healthy eating, as well as reducing pollution. No one wants a rubbish tip near their home,
but people everywhere are throwing away more and more rubbish! Every one of us can make a difference
by changing our behaviour and creating new habits. This week’s tip is to use a canvas or fabric bag when
going to the supermarket. Remember, the aim is not to replace all packaging, but only wrapping that is
unnecessary and over the top. Some packaging has little purpose; for example, could you do without a
styrofoam and cling wrap around your fruit and vegetables? Do you really need to use a plastic carry bag
for one or two items? Say no to extra plastic wherever possible!
With a bit of care, you can become an eco-consumer. It is actually a fun challenge to work out how to cut
down on rubbish! Try making more mindful choices with your family and pack Nude Food next
Wednesday.
