YCDI – aCCepting myself Throughout the beginning of this term, the You Can Do It program will

see our students focusing on concepts relating to “Accepting

Myself”. The You Can Do It program defines Accepting Myself thinking

as “not thinking badly of myself when I make a mistake”.

Making mistakes is something we all do. However, if a student berates

themselves every time they make an error, then pretty soon the student

may not only lose confidence but give up trying altogether for fear of

making another mistake.

Another thing to consider is that through the mistake process we

learn. Making a mistake often involves us back tracking, assessing

what went wrong and correcting it, which tends to stick in our memory

much more than achieving something quickly and moving on.

So while we don’t encourage students to try to make mistakes, we

should see mistakes as something to be taken advantage of when they

happen. We all can do it!

Which is more fun, summer or winter?

“AH! I GOT SUNBURNT!” Do you know that everyone says that summer is way more

fun than winter? Well I don’t think so! Read down below and find out why winter is

better than summer.

Most people would say that summer is more fun than winter. However, I think that

winter is way more fun than summer. For example, in the winter you can go up to

the snow and play snowball fights but if you go to the snow in summer the snow will

dribble down your hands. Plus you can still go places with your family in winter.

The best thing about winter is that you can get your hot chocolate with

marshmallows in front of your wood heater and watch TV or read a book. In

summer you get sunburnt and it kills. Also you can play on your iPad more. An

important thing is that you can still go to indoor pools if you want to swim in the

winter.

I‘m sure that you can go to the cinemas and watch a movie, or go shopping in the

winter. You can go bowling and play at the game centre. You can even have a cosy

sleepover with friends. Another thing is that you can listen to the rain pouring down

your window while you’re warm and safe indoors.

You can do all these things in the winter, so these are the reasons why I think

winter is more fun. Do you really think that summer is better than winter?
