Ms. Rocio Del Milagro Woody is a Licensed Psychotherapist and a Nationally Certified Master Addictions Counselor. She is the Founder and President of The Road to Recovery, Inc. based in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Woody completed the second year of Law School prior to relocating to the US. A graduate of the International Foreign Language Program of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Ms. Woody holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science (BA) with Cum Laude honors and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with honors from The University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Georgia. Ms. Woody’s primary area of interest in the clinical field is the impact of linguistically appropriate and culturally sensitive health care in the treatment needs of children, adolescent and adult patients suffering of psychiatric disorders. In 1995, Ms. Woody founded The Road to Recovery, Inc. the first culturally and linguistically competent professional counseling practice specialized in behavioral health and substance abuse services. As a licensed mental health professional, Ms. Woody’s clinical practice is regulated and monitored by the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists. As a facility, The Road to Recovery is fully licensed by the state of Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, fully accredited by the Department of Driver Services and certified by the Georgia Commission on Family Violence. The Road to Recovery, Inc. is the only private, minority owned clinical practice that has been awarded local, state and federal contracts to provide DUI Court Treatment Programs, Drug Court Treatment Programs, Pre-Trial Diversion Intervention Programs, Behavioral Health Programs for Minors under the Custody of the Department of Homeland Security and specialized psychological counseling services for the Department of Justice. With six clinics throughout the state of Georgia, The Road to Recovery, Inc. continues to be the premier; most established Latino privately owned behavioral health and substance abuse services practice in the state of Georgia. Currently, Ms. Woody serves as Treasurer of the National Association of Social Workers, Georgia Chapter. In addition, Ms. Woody serves on the Board of Directors of Leadership DeKalb and she currently serves on the Executive Board of the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials. Ms. Woody also serves as a Board Member of EduKalb, a part of the DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Woody is currently serving and she has been twice appointed to the Georgia Supreme Court Commission for the Unlicensed Practice of Law (UPL) District 4. Ms. Woody is a lecturer for the Master of Public Health (MPH) program speaking on Intercultural Communications and Health issues at Morehouse School of Medicine. Ms. Woody has served on the State-Wide Drug Court Advisory Committee of the Georgia Supreme Court and she has served on the Board of Visitors of Grady Health Systems. Ms. Woody has been a member of the State BAR of Georgia Justice Builders Committee and she has served on the Advisory Board of the Southeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center at Morehouse School of Medicine. Among her civic activities, Ms. Woody is the Founder of the International Family Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of domestic abuse in the Latino community. Ms. Woody is the founder and President of the Peruvian-American Business Chamber and President Emeritus of the Peruvian-American Association of Georgia. Ms. Woody serves as a Board Member of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Bi-National Chambers Committee. Ms. Woody is a Founding Member of the Georgia Hispanic Network and she was an Active Member in the Political Affairs Committee of the Junior League of Atlanta. Ms. Woody is a Former Council Member of the General Consulate of Peru in Miami, Florida. Ms. Woody is the immediate past President of the League of Women Voters of DeKalb County, Georgia. Ms. Woody graduated from Diversity Leadership Academy, Class of 2002, Leadership Atlanta, Class of 2003 and Leadership DeKalb, Class of 2004. She has recently been accepted to the Regional Leadership Institute, Class of 2010. In 2010, Ms. Woody received the Excellence in Treatment Award granted in recognition of her accomplishments in the field of substance abuse and presented by the Georgia School of Addiction Studies. Ms. Woody was also granted the Peruvian of Excellence Award, granted by the national organization Tumi USA in Miami, Florida in 2010. Ms. Woody received the Outstanding Leadership in Business and Community Services from the Consulate General of Peru in Atlanta in November of 2009. Atlanta Woman Magazine recognized Ms. Woody among the Top 8 Hispanic women in business for 2008. Ms. Woody was appointed as a United States Delegate for the 2008 Asian-Pacific Economic Council (APEC) Forum. In addition, DeKalb County CEO, the honorable Burrell Ellis, granted a Proclamation honoring Ms. Woody for her dedication, service and commitment to DeKalb County. She has received the 2005 Condor Award for Outstanding Leadership from the Peruvian-American Association of Georgia in recognition of her exceptional work in the opening of a Peruvian Consulate in the State of Georgia. Ms. Woody has also received the 2004 Business Woman of the Year Award, the highest honor granted by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Hispanic Magazine has honored Ms. Woody among the US Top Latino Entrepreneurs of 2003. Ms. Woody was awarded the Hispanic Business Woman of the year in 2002 and she has been granted the Outstanding Citizen of Georgia and Goodwill Ambassador of Georgia recognition by the Secretary of State of Georgia. Ms. Woody is a recognized national and international presenter and public policy consultant on matters related to cultural sensitivity, substance abuse and mental health issues. Ms. Woody is a regular guest speaker for a number radio talk shows and local media such as Univision-Atlanta 34; Azteca America TV; Univision-Miami USA; CNN in Español-Latin America and CNN Newsroom (USA). Ms. Woody was called upon to participate in the 2009 CNN Special Latino in America as a guest panelist. Ms. Woody has been recognized by Radio Programas del Peru (RPP) as a Peruvian of Excellence Abroad.
