30 October 2013

Dear Parents and Carers, As we head into Week 4, the air quality levels remind us that it continues to be very trying

times for families and communities affected by the fires. I would like to thank both our own

students and staff for their flexibility and patience in the play arrangements that were

activated last week to ensure that all students were well looked after. Currently, the school is

working out how best we can help support those affected by the bushfires. Stay tuned for

updates over the next few weeks.

Over this next month and a half, the school will be analysing both school-based, NAPLAN,

Literacy and Numeracy data to commence the planning process and formation of school

priorities and targets for 2014. The process will involve consulting all key stakeholders and

aligning future directions.

As I mentioned at our recent P&C Meeting, one of the programs we are committed to

implementing is PBIS (Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports). PBIS is a problem

solving framework and systems approach to designing effective learning environments. In

short, PBIS is about minimising disruptions and maximising learning time. Over the next few

newsletters, the school's PBIS team will post information pertaining to its progress.

I would also like to congratulate the following students and teams who have represented our

school admirably in this past week:

Max (200m) and Zohra (Shot Put) at the State Athletics Carnival.

The school's debating team under the coordination of Miss Sayers who debated via

video conferencing against Sherwood Grange P.S.

All students who have achieved their Silver and Gold Awards listed in this newsletter

edition.

Lastly, it was wonderful to see so many grandparents, parents and carers who attended our

Grandparent's Day yesterday and were able to be part of the Book Fair, Open Classrooms

and Book Character Parade. It was a very colourful and enjoyable event! Thank you also to

the Stage 2 classes who provided a tasty range of cakes and cookies for Morning Tea.

Brilliant effort!

Walkathon Day

Due to the current air conditions, we have postponed our school Walkathon until Tuesday 5

November, 2014. Remember to keep filling those sponsorship forms as monies raised will

be targeted for school and classroom resources, the Yr. 6 Farewell and Yr. 6 gift to the

school.

2014 Kindergarten Orientation Program - Kickstart

The Kickstart program for children enrolling in Kindergarten 2014 at Ringrose PS

commences on Tuesday 12 November in Wk. 6 this term. Thank you to Mrs Harrison and

her team for their careful planning of these days to familiarise new students and families to

our school next year.

Stewart House Bag Collections

This week Stewart House bags have been sent home. Please return filled bags by 4th

November for the collection day pick-up. Bags can be left outside our Uniform Shop area.

Remembrance Day Service

On Monday 11 November (in Wk. 6), the school will hold its Remembrance Day Service. Our

school leadership team will lead the service.

Reminders Damien Avenue Carpark

A short reminder that we ask parents NOT to use the Damien Avenue Carpark as a pick up

point for students. Last week, I sought support from Ringrose District Office to keep those

gates closed at all times due to Work, Health and Safety (WHS) regulations.

Office Area

I would like to remind all parents and visitors that when in the office area, you keep strictly to

the foyer area. Please do not proceed past the office bay window or hallway as this

poses possible risks to both our staff and students. Similarly, please do not access the Office

area by the backdoor on the Ringrose District Office side.

Punctuality to School - I would like to remind our parents and carers that all students should be at school ready to commence the day at 8:55am when our bell goes.
