A beta is almost like

a demo but instead i t wi ll s till have a few bugs and gl i tches, to play a

beta you to get a beta key.

This image is relevant to the word “beta” because this shows the game Destiny is in beta.

Alpha A very early version of a software product that may not contain all of the features that are planned for the final version. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/alpha_version.html

Alpha is almost the same as a beta but

i t wi ll have a lot more bugs and gl i tches but that i s why there i s an

a lpha, to find the bugs and glitches.

You are pretty

much testing the game.

This image is relevant to the word “Alpha” because this shows that Destiny is in alpha.

Pre-Alpha Pre-Alpha means that the game still has a scheduled list of code and assists to be written and created. The game is buggy, it lacks features, it’s prone to crashing and performance issues https://carmageddon.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200416352-What-does-Pre-Alpha-mean-

Pre-Alpha means a game is s till being wri tten and coded but i t i s closer to being finished.

Pixel Shader The pixel shader is another programmable

function that allows flexibility in shading an individual pixel. https://www.google.co.uk/#q=definition+of+Pixel+Shader

Pixel Shader i s

a lmost the same as vertex shade but instead the pixel shader shades the

individual pixel unl ike the vertex

shader.

This Image is relevant to the word “Pixel Shader” because it shows a game using the

same shader but on the right side of the i t shows the same game but with a update shader, you can clearly see the difference.

Post Processing Sonar data processing after real time data generation and storage. Modern sonar systems allow the user to concentrate on the task at hand of gathering data by recording "raw" data which can be manipulated or "processed http://www.instituteformarineacoustics.org/SonarPrimer/data/gloss_6c.htm

Post Processing makes a game

texture and shaders

look more realistic. It wi l l also make the

game run faster and the FPS wi ll run quicker

Rendering means

generating a 2D image in to a 3D model, it a lso means how far you

can see in a game and how good the

textures look a at a

dis tance.

This Image is relevant to the word “Rendering” because i t shows the difference

between a render image and a non-render image. Normal Map In 3D computer graphics, normal mapping, or

"Dot3 bump mapping", is a technique used for

faking the lighting of bumps and dents – an implementation of bump mapping. It is used to add details without using more polygons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normal_mapping

Normal Map means

an implemented of

bumps in the map and a lso it is also

used for faking the l ighting of the bumps and a lso the dents.

AA – Anti-

Aliasing

1. Definition of: anti-aliasing. Smoothing the jagged

appearance of diagonal lines in a bitmapped image. The pixels that surround the edges of the line are changed to varying shades of grey or colour in order to blend the sharp edge into the background. http://www.pcmag.com/encyclopedia/term/37810/anti-aliasing

Anti - Al iasing is a

programme which, smoothens the edges of objects and images in

game. This will make them look

more realistic.

This Image is relevant to the word “Anti-Aliasing” because it shows 3 di fferent images, 2

off these images use AA and 1 of these images does not use AA. You can tell the

di fference between each image because the images with AA are smoother and crisper. LoD – Level of

Detail

LOD describes technology that is used to save memory and processing power by using lower detail models or textures for objects in the distance https://www.google.co.uk/#q=definition+of++LoD+%E2%80%93+Level+of+Detail

Level Of Detail

means how much LOD goes in to

textures and models, the higher the LOD is , the better the textures

look however, it can sometimes make the game run s low

or the fps could drop. Also the

lower the detail the worst the game look but i t might run a l ittle bit better than normal.

This Image is relevant to the word “Level Of Detail” because i t shows the amount detail

there i s in games.
