THE FOLLOWING LETTER HAS BEEN SENT TO OUR CUSTOMERS:

To Our Customers:—

We wish to announce that the name of the Murray Electric Light and Power Company nas been changed to the

Sullivan County Light and Power Corporation

This change in name became desirable when, a year ago, the Murray estate transferred its ownership in the Murray Electric Light and Power Company to interests affiliated with the Associated Gas and Electric Company.

The new name has been adopted because the company is no longer a business managed by one or two

individuals but is now a part of a larger group of well organized companies engaged in furnishing light and power, and,

because the company is expanding its territory and service so that the new name will be more suitable. The group of companies, called the Associated Gas and Elec

tric Companies with which the Murray Company is now affiliated, includes 15 operating companies which are located in 5 states—New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee—and serves a population of over 200,000 in 196 communities.

Beside the Murray (now Sullivan County) property, some of the other companies are:

THE LIBERTY LIGHT AND POWER COMPANY which furnishes electric service at Liberty, Parksville, Ferndale and surrounding territory;

THE NEW YORK STATE GAS AND ELECTRIC CORPORATION which serves Ithaca, Cortland, Norwich, Oneonta and 30 other communities;

THE KENTUCKY PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY which serves 17 communities in Kentucky and Tennessee.

The advantage of being affiliated with a larger group of companies, is the better management which the larger company is able to furnish. The Associated Gas and Electric Company brings to our company the benefit of the expert advice and facilities of the engineers and executives of the J. G. White Management Corporation which is one of the internationally known leaders in this field. Considerable extensions and improvements in service have already been made under their supervision.

You will be interested to know that we will shortly offer you an attractive opportunity to become shareholders in this company.

Yours very truly,

Sullivan County Light & Power Corporation
