Health Education North Central and East London Quality Awards 2013

Health Education North Central and East London (HE NCEL) are pleased to announce that applications for their 2013 Quality Awards are now open. These Awards will enable HE NCEL to acknowledge and celebrate the excellent work across North Central and East London to deliver excellence in multi-disciplinary education, training and workforce development.

Award CategoriesThe award categories below have been designed to align with Health Education North Central and East London’s strategic priorities.

1. Service transformation through education To recognise where education has supported a radical change in the provision of patient care

and a dramatic improvement in patient outcomes.

2. Innovation in healthcare education and training To recognise where a new and innovative approach has been taken in the design and/or

delivery of education with outstanding results. This could include (but is not limited to) the use of technology-enhanced simulation.

3. Excellence in widening participation and wider workforce development To recognise an initiative that has been successful in widening participation in healthcare

careers and in education and training, or in developing parts of the workforce that have sometimes been excluded from continuing professional development.

4. Collaboration and partnership in education To recognise where education and training has brought people together to collaborate across

organisational boundaries, resulting in improved partnership working and better and more coordinated care for patients.

5. Promoting healthy living through education and training To recognise education and training of or by the NHS workforce which has helped people to live

healthier lives and manage their own wellbeing.

6. Excellence in multi-professional education and training To recognise an education project or initiative that has involved bringing together a wide range

of different staff groups to learn together in the interest of better patient care.

7. Patient and carer centered education To recognise education and training that has been innovative in putting patients and/or carers at

the centre of the programme, either in terms of design or delivery.

8. Trainer of the year To recognise an outstanding trainer that has gone the extra mile in delivering excellence in

education (this could be from any profession or specialty).

9. Student of the year To recognise a non-medical student who has achieved/done something outstanding over the

previous year. This could be, for example, someone who has gone the extra mile to be involved in or support a healthcare related project.

10. Trainee of the year To recognise a medical trainee who has achieved/done something outstanding over the

previous year. This could be, for example, someone who has gone the extra mile to be involved in or support a healthcare related project.

11. Apprentice of the year To recognise an outstanding apprentice (either clinical or non-clinical) that has achieved

excellence in their apprenticeship programme.

Eligibility Criteria

Any individual, team or organisations providing NHS funded care in North Central and East London may be nominated for a Recognition Award. Please note that you cannot nominate yourself.

PanelThe judging panel will be made up of a combination of people representing Health Education North Central and East London, Health Education England and the wider community in North Central and East London. The final panel composition will be at the discretion of Health Education North Central and East London.

Post-application processOnce the panel has reviewed all the submissions, all winners will be informed at the award ceremony in early December 2013. All short-listed nominations and their nominators will be invited to the award ceremony.
