Satya Bharti School, Raqba, a village situated 40 KMs from Ludhiana,

Punjab. In Punjabi “Raqba” means “sand”. There are plenty of Kilns in

Raqba and most of students coming to our school are from families

working in these kilns.

Before choosing the

project we decided to

involve community with us

so that it has a lasting

impact on village

dwellers. A meeting with

complete Panchayat of

village was held and we

chose to clean waste land

besides our school and

make it usable by children

as playground.

As the motive behind the

project was awareness

among village dwellers, a

rally was taken out through

entire village by the students

about the importance of

cleanliness.

The response was prompt

and people came forward to

help in all possible ways they

can, in terms of monetary

help, labor & material like

tractors for leveling ground

Starting phase was with cutting of grass which

was spread all over the land and was very big.

Page 11: Raqba

Then next stage was

tilling the hard soil, and

leveling the land with

help of tractors. Then

removing stones and

bricks from the land.

Now, it was the time

to make a boundary

line with bricks and

paint them.

At last we

installed a volley-

ball net and

made a Kho-Kho

ground for

children.

Nothing gives more joy and happiness when we share it with

others. After all this work a small feast was given to the children

and this project is a token from them to their teachers and

community members. The village Panchayat was so much

impressed that it has given the land permanently to the school

to be used by it effectively for children

Thanks for the

opportunity we got to be

a part of the change we

can bring to the society

and the world at large.
