Radio News Story Review.

In order to review my radio interviews I sent out a survey to my target audience to collect some peer analysis. I sent out the survey to 5 students who were my target audience

The first thing I wanted to find out was whether my audience found my news stories interesting. 5 out of the 6 responses came back that yes they did find my stories interesting.

I found it quite difficult to decide on the stories to choose, as we had to base our stories on things to do with college or something local.

The second question I asked was if my news stories were informative.

6 out of the 6 responses came back as yes. It was important to make sure the stories were informative. Otherwise they would be pointless and not very good stories. If they were not informative they would not be news stories.

The next question asked was whether my interview subjects were a reliable source. This means, do they think the people I was interviewing a relatable and a trust worthy source to get answers off.

All of the responses said yes, that the subject was a reliable source. It is important to make sure the sources used were reliable because if they were lying it would be fake news and incorrect.

The last question I asked was if my news stories were clear, concise and correct

6 out the 6 responses said yes that my news stories were clear, concise and correct. To make sure that they were clear, concise and correct I had to make sure that we could hear the talking clearly, so any noise in the background

couldn’t be too loud. To keep it concise, I had to keep the information clear and in a few words; brief but comprehensive. Keeping the information correct was important; otherwise I would be selling a false story.

The first story I decided to cover was the Berlin trip. I had to consider the whether this story was suitable for my target audience. As it was a story about a college trip, I thought it was very suitable.

The negative things about this story were that the trip hasn’t happened yet so I couldn’t ask people’s opinions on the trip. I think because this was my first story I could have asked better questions, this way I would have got a better response.

The purpose of my story was for promotional reasons. It was to inform students of Eccles College about the trip for the media students.

My presentation style was a typical interview. I told a bit about the story and then asked a source a couple of questions. I then finished off the interview by saying who I am and who I was working for.

For this interview I decided not to do much editing to the interview. This is because I was only interviewing one person, and it wouldn’t make sense if I took out me asking the question.

The second story I covered was about another college trip. This one was about a trip that had already happened. I interviewed people about the trip to watch The Voice UK. Our age group is a part of the target audience of The Voice so I think this story is suitable for my target audience. A positive aspect of producing this story was that although the auditions happened before it was aired on TV, by the time I had edited and interviewed everyone, it was just before it was being aired, making my story in the public interest.

The purpose of this interview was to inform and entertain. The presentation style was to talk about the show and then get quotes from people who went. I tried to keep the story up beat and exciting.

The third and final story I covered was asking media college students if they thought going to university was a good idea in this industry. This story was suitable for my target audience as it was aimed at college students. The purpose of the story is quite a serious issue as it relates to serious issue of the target audience’s life. The presentation style of this interview was to talk about what happens and then just add quotes from other students about what they think. I decided to use just the quotes of the interview rather than the part where I’m asking the questions.
