Page 1: Question 2

How have I represented social groups in my product?

Scum magazine

Page 2: Question 2

I have chosen to name my magazine scum as it appeals to more rebellious, rogue teenagers that try to follow the 'indie grunge' style inspired by quite

dark 90s grunge bands such as nirvana and have been brought back into chart music by modern bands such as peace who's 2013 album had a song on it entitled 'scumbag', peace also appear in my magazine, i chose to use the font 'no messin' because it is harsh but also looks quite soft because there are no solid hard edges i chose to have it in black so it stood out

against all the other colors on the front cover

Page 3: Question 2

The cover image image i have chosen is not the most stereotypical image because my model has got his eyes shut, i know this is not usually displayed in mainstream magazines but i think that it helps represent the target audience i am trying to attract as they dont particularly want nice smiling photoshoots but quite dirty and unplanned ones (grunge), i chose my model because he meets the criteria of my audience also, he has fake dirty blonde hair, denim jacket and visual festival bands on, because my magazine is aimed at youth, i have used this model because he is what my target audience are looking for.

Page 4: Question 2

I chose to put the quote 'i'm just some kid no ones heard of' on the front of my magazine because it is a quote that many teenagers aged 17-21 who maybe want to make it in the music industry would understand and beable to relate to, they will probably want to read it because it doesnt say why he's famous or how hes got famous so it is entising for young readers. I chose the font for ‘RICHY HUCK’ because it is big bold and nice to look at, I chose to use this font for most of my headings throughout the rest of my work because I thought it was the most eyecatching text.

I have chosen to use very bright colours throughout my magazine because my audience research has shown that my target audience enjoys wearing clothes from websites such as lazy oaf and drop dead and the general style of their website and their merchandise is very bright and bold using fonts similar to those that I have used and using similar colourschemes

Page 5: Question 2

The written content in my magazine represents my social groups interests, especially musically and fashion wise, I have included many ‘hipster’ bands such as PEACE, palma violets and jaws who are all listened to by the people I am represnting and also have very similar norms and values to the target audience – they are the same age, wear the same clothes, eat the same food go out drinking etc…
