Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Page 2: Question 1

Conventions of my music video

We made our music video different from other videos by having the location of the opening on a bus where our singer has fallen asleep and she wakes up and starts to sing randomly like in a flash mob, similar to Beyonces music video where she starts a flash mob in a school canteen.

Something different hat we also did was have our images that we took on our photo shoot for our magazine advert and digipak, we used in our music video at the start for the repeated phrase ‘Oh oh oh oooh’, where we had the photos do jump cuts to a different photos as for every ‘Oh’s’.

We did similar things to the original song by Jessie J by having the blue screen effects on like she had on her video throughout but we only had it on half the video.

We also did some signiture moves from the Jessie’s video such as the twinkling starts part with the hands.

Mostly all Pop have a dance routine timed as well s backup dancers. We did a similar thing, we did have backup dancers but they weren’t in the whole video because we didn’t want to make it too much similar to other videos. Also we did have dancing but not a big dance routine except for on the bus because it’s a small space so we had to rehearse one.

We did a moonlight blue screen effect for the bridge of our video which I’ve show a similar effect on singer Ellie Goulding’s music video Starry eyed.

Conventions of my digipak

We took a range of photos that would show of the Hip Hop genre by getting our actor play around with balloons to show how much fun she’s having and to reflect the song. We did this because most Pop style artist’s always have photos of them having fun on their CD or digipak to show that their album is fun like the images.

The colours that we used were bright colours that signify the Pop genres such as pink and purple as well as it being a girly colours.

Conventions of my magazine advert

Our magazine advert has our singer with her face to one side, not giving direct eye contact which are similar to most Pop artists like Florence and the Machine and Pixie Lott. This could signify that the artists is keeping a secret or there’s a mystery to their album, which could be a way of promoting the album.

Similar also is how the light is hitting on the face straight to show off the facial expression off as well as the pose they make in the photo.
