It was with great pleasure that my family and myself had the opportunity to see "The Marvelous Adventures of Tyl" and "The Fantasticks" per-formed by The Junkyard Players of Lexington, Ky. these past two Monday evemngs. It was a marvelous opportunity to see quality professional theater performance right in our home community. The Woman's Club of Mt. Vernon is to be commended for making the arrangements and financially underwriting the performances. . It is hoped further such plays can be brought to the area.

'"CMSgt. John E. Phillips, spn of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Phillips of Route 2, Mt* Vernon, and husband of the former Margaret Carpenter of Living-ston, took a top incentive award of $2,435 - the largest award given this fiscal year - from the Systems Division, Directorate of the Missile Maintenance, Fifteenth Air Force.

Phillips recommended re-placing the Minuteman Sys-tem's larger, more expensive special purpose maintenance vans with a lighter, more economical vehicle.

Two Mt. Vernon cadets at Kentucky Mil^fcaty Institute a t . Lyndon received notice last' week that their rank had been advanced. They are James Earl Hammons and Lowell Griffin.

Hammons, who is in Co. C was advanced from Cadet 1st Lieutenant to Cadet Captain. Griffin, in Co. B was advanced from Cadet Corporal to Cadet Sergeant.

Four Graduate from Eastern Four degrees were awarded

to candidates from this county who have been attending summer school at Eastern Kentucky State College at Richmond. They are Bentley Hilton, Geraldine Henderson, Delia Webb Scoggins and James O. Smith. Hilton received the Master of Arts degree and the other that of Bachelor of Science.
