Although the Spanish Property Industryhas suffered some difficult periods inrecent years, all indicators show thatthings are now on the up

Whilst the world’s media is still intent onpublishing doom and gloom articles relatingto the global economic crisis, official statis-tics have proven that there IS movement,particularly in the property market. Slightimprovements were recorded during 2011,with the upward trend continuing throughout2012. According to figures compiled by theNational Statistics Institute (INE), the sale ofproperty across the country rose by 0.9% inSeptember 2012, compared to the figure forthe same month of 2011, equating to a totalof 25 985 transactions. Of these 50.9% wereresale properties and 49.1% new develop-ments.

This was regarded as very positive newsby optimists, who considered it a clear indi-cation that the economy was recovering;particularly as it showed the second consec-utive increase, with figures for August alsoregistering improvements of 3% after a stag-nant run of 17 months. What is even morereassuring for those of us living on the CostaBlanca, is that the highest number of housesales per 100 000 population were executedin La Rioja (128) and right here in theValencian Community (103). Valencia con-tinued to attract large numbers of buyersthrough to the close of 2012, with 3 912

properties being sold during the month ofNovember.

Costa Blanca Real Estate Agents haveconfirmed that this is indeed the case, andare pleased to report an increase in sales atboth ends of the property scale, from smallapartments to luxurious detached villas. Andwith the increased demand, particularlyamong the resale’s sector, Agents have evenbegan to advertise for new property listingsto satisfy demand.
