Tender/Estimation/Bidding/Order

1. Receive Tender with the details of all specifications and standards

2. Engineers Study Drawings and arrive at a cost for total area of work required for production and installation, normally based on a square meter basis.

3. Engineers Produce BOQ based on spec and submit price

4. Notes are taken (who takes them?) on the nature of work, time needed, along with any requirements or special circumstances pertaining to the actual work site

5. Agree On Final Costs

6. An acceptance order is issued once the order is realised.

Project preliminaries

7. Collection of Co-ordinated Drawings (who collects these)

8. Submission of materials specification data sheets / samples to the client for approval (Who supplies these, which department, which person role is responsible)

9. Submission of Product Samples for approval (Who supplies these, which department, which person role is responsible)

Material Procurement & Inventory

10. Once material is approved the purchase department starts the procedures for procurement

11. logistics department coordinates delivering of materials

12. inventory department will take note of the receipt of the materials, conduct quality control checks and store until.

Site preliminaries

13. While the material is procured, our site engineer will make tagged drawings with the help of draftsmen from the co-ordinated drawings. These tagged drawings will be issued around the factory for production purposes.

Production Process

14. Once receiving the tagged drawings, the factory supervisor will make a fabrication schedule for the ducts to be made after co-coordinating with the site supervisors.

15. The Fabricators receive the fabrication schedule and dimensions of the ducts to be fabricated

16. CNC Fabricators proccess the data into CNC Machines such as coil line and Plasma.

17. The square ducts are processed through the CNC operated Coil Line machine to make ducts of 1500mm. This duct is then passed through the RAS duct zipper for seam joining and Automatic Precision Cleat bending machine for “C” Cleats to form complete duct. At each stage, a factory foreman is continuously monitoring the quality. After completion, these ducts are sent to quality inspection by the Quality Assurance Department.

18. The Duct fittings are processed through the CNC-controlled Plasma Cutting System. The fabricator feeds the data in to the system and the system automatically nests the parts on the sheets with the precise

measurements. The Plasma Cutting tables are then loaded with GI sheets and the fittings part are cut. The fabricator identifies the pieces with the help of layout prints and marks the dimensions along with fabrication instructions that deal with bending, rolling etc. These parts then are passed through duct beader to strengthening the sheets by grooving them.

19. After beading, the parts are passed through various processes such as lock -forming, rolling, bending, flanging, spot welding and cleat bending as per the requirements of the fittings. The fitting parts then are moved to the assembling section, where the parts are being assembled, while it’s add on flanges are fixed, stiffeners for large ducts are added etc. The factory foreman monitors all the processes so as to ensure the quality of products.

20. The assembled duct fittings are then sent to the quality assurance and inspection department.

21. The logistics department will arrange the delivery of the completed ducts and ensure safe and speedy delivery at site.

Installation Procedures

22. The Project Engineer divides the areas of operations for the supervisors and the supervisors engage the duct men for the erection of supports. At each level the supervisors ensure the workers follow the quality erection procedures. They are also randomly counter-checked by the Project Engineer. This eliminates almost all the hazards of bad workmanship as well as ensures fastest erection of ducts.

23. The ducts delivered to site shall be received by the store in charge at site. The ducts will be inspected again upon arrival. The inspected duct then will be forwarded to different areas of the building as per the demands of the supervisors and the labels fixed on the ducts indicating where they go. AirTech employs a labeling system that specifies the project area, and unit number to more easily manage finished duct works.

24. The duct insulators are then engaged to fix the thermal insulation/fire coating on the ducting as per the project specifications. The insulation works are inspected again by the supervisors for quality assurance.

25. The insulated ducts are then handed to duct men for erection and connection to units. The duct-erection will be closely monitored by the supervisors to ensure quality and installation progress.

26. All these activities will be counter-checked by the Project Engineer and co-ordination issues with other contractors will be sorted out to progress the work quickly.

27. Once the erection is completed, the Project Engineer will submit the erected ducts for inspection and approval.
