 Stuart Jay Raj in Brief

 

Background Of mixed race, TV personality Stuart Jay Raj or ‘Jay’ has a fluent command in speaking,

listening, reading and writing over 13 modern languages including Chinese dialects, Spanish,

Indonesian, Thai, Danish and Sign Language. He has more than a passing familiarity in more

than 15 other languages both modern and ancient and is proficient in several computer

languages. From working with offshore Oil & Gas projects to Miss Universe, Stuart’s ability to

seamlessly communicate across cultures has become an invaluable asset for both multinational

corporations and governments alike.

Entertainment Stuart is a Television Host hosting programmes around the region in several languages including English, Thai, Bahasa

Indonesia and Mandarin Chinese.

Stuart plays Jazz Piano with the Bangkok based ROL Jazz Trio and is also on the official interpreters team for Miss Universe.

From 2000 Stuart has been closely associated with the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand initially running his Cracking

Thai Fundamentals programme to equip journalists to hit the ground running with Thai language and cultural skills. Most

recently Stuart has been a board member of the FCCT and today continues to extend his network of key players that shape the

happenings in SE Asia.

Facilitation, Training and Coaching Stuart is an internationally accredited Trainer and Facilitator and under his company Kognisens, consults and trains for

Governments and Corporations in several languages around the globe. Training programmes help participants develop both

soft and hard skills covering areas including Leadership, Negotiations, Team Building, Simultaneous Interpreting, Key Account

Management and Presentation Skills.

Through his experience with a diverse client base, Stuart has been trained in several disciplines in the Oil and Gas Industry,

Modern Trade, Pharmaceutical Industry, Sustainable Development and HIV AIDS and works in conjunction with several

agencies around the world as a buffer between western executives and local people in these fields.

Facilitation, Training and Coaching In 1999 Stuart was introduced to Dale

Carnegie Thailand. He cut his teeth here

becoming an accredited trainer / facilitator

training the Dale Carnegie Breakthrough to

Success Program as well as other programs

including Leadership Training for Managers,

High Impact Presentations, World Class

Customer Service and Sales Advantage.

In 2003 combining facilitation and training with language, culture and communication, Stuart

founded Kogneit Thailand and later its international arm Kognisens Company Limited.

Kognisens provides consultation, training, facilitation and coaching services to public and

private sector clients around the globe.

Oil and Gas In any Oil and Gas project, Health, Safety and

Environmental issues should never be

sacrificed for productivity.

Having been trained in Behavioural Health and

Safety, Stuart has proven his ability with Oil

and Gas companies working in Asia, by

synergizing his HSE knowledge with his ability

to communicate with people in their own

tongues and on their own wavelengths.

Through coaching, training and facilitation Stuart builds up healthy communication networks

onsite and offsite that transcend both rank and culture. Potential hazards and obstacles to

productivity often get nipped in the bud and company executives are free to focus on

achieving their targets all the while maintaining a culture of safety and care throughout all

levels of the organisation.

Entertainment Stuart was born into a family of musicians and since

2000 has been the pianistic third member of the

ROL Trio playing with Kenro Oshidari on double-

bass and Dale Lee on drums in Bangkok.

Since 2000 the Foreign Correspondents Club of

Thailand has played an integral role in linking Stuart

into the region. Initially conducting his Cracking

Thai Fundamentals workshop for Foreign

Correspondents that needed to hit the ground

running with their Thai Language skills, Stuart

continued to work with many other political and

entertainment based organizations associated with

the club and was a member of the FCCT board

from 2009-2010.

Stuart has worked as the official interpreter for

Miss Thailand and Miss Indonesia for the Miss

Universe organization since 2005 and in 2009

became the host for the Thai TV Channel 5 Show

‘เหนือช้ัน 1000 แปลก’ (Neua Chan Phan Plaek) or

‘The Amazing and Extraordinary World’. From

Istanbul to the Coober Pedy, Stuart travels around

the globe finding the world’s most extraordinary

Modern Trade Fifty years of Modern Trade development in the United

States has occurred within ten or so years in China.

The need in Asia to equip local people with the soft and

hard skills that their positions demand of them has

never been so imperative.

Working with international Modern Trade giants, Stuart

works between executive management and their local

teams to help them develop hard skills including Sales

and Marketing planning, Key Account Management and

Customer Insights with soft skills in Negotiations,

Customer Service, Communication, Leadership and

exceptional Presentation Skills.

Stuart is also often invited to be the Key Note Speaker

at Modern Trade events where he links his knowledge

of the industry to cultural insights to give his clients the

edge in the market.

Language and Mind Skills When people first meet Stuart, their

first impressions are often influenced

by his ability with languages. In

several languages Stuart has native to

near native command, being able to

communicate in all registers of the

language. For other languages, his

facility ranges from advanced

competence in speaking, listening,

reading and writing to beginner level.

The languages Stuart has worked with

include Indonesian, Malay, Thai, Lao,

Mandarin, Spanish, Cantonese, Danish, Sign Language, Norwegian, Hindi, Italian, Japanese,

Swedish, Urdu, Sanskrit, Korean, Arabic, Burmese, Pwo (Karen), Tagalog, Tamil, Tibetan,

Vietnamese and Burmese.

This affinity with languages is a by-

product of the foundation that Stuart’s

maternal grandfather had laid down in

communication, memory and mind-skills.

Stuart has honed his raw knowledge of

linguistics, memory, NLP, hypnosis,

technology and culture to develop a

mind-development system under the

banner of ‘Mindcraft’. Mindcraft inspires

people of all ages and all backgrounds to push their minds to new levels and through

controlled techniques, stretch the limits of their memory, capacity with languages and ability

to absorb and comprehend complex knowledge in an accelerated manner. Techniques

include heightened sensory perception and speeding up thought by decoupling the mind

from the body’s motor activities.

Sustainable Development Stuart has worked with UN agencies, the

German Government and NGO’s around

Stuart has successfully run workshops for

civil servants and academics in China,

India and Pakistan equipping them with the

skills to be able to inspire and work with the

Interpreting and Translation Stuart has been simultaneously

interpreting between multiple languages

since 1992. Clients include the United

Nations, Government agencies,

corporate clients including Microsoft and

Pfizer and NGO’s working throughout

Asia.

Since 2003, Stuart has been teaching

Simultaneous Interpreting to university

students and government employees and

in 2007 incorporated fundamentals of his simultaneous interpreting classes as core skills for

his Mindcraft mind development programmes for the public.

Stuart has been on the official Miss Universe interpreting team, interpreting for Miss

Indonesia and Miss Thailand, as well as other languages when required including Mandarin

Chinese and Spanish.
