World Yoga Day- Sunday June 18th, 2pm start Strathbogie Hall, Main St, Strathbogie

Have you ever wanted to try yoga? Yoga is an ancient, holistic approach to health and wellbeing that promotes harmony between individuals, their community, their natural environment, and the wider world. Yoga can increase your flexibility, strengthen your muscles, balance hormones, calm your mind and reduce stress. In 2015 The United Nations declared the first International Yoga Day, and in 2016 was our first community class, here in Strathbogie! This annual event continues, and a great way to experience for yourself the many benefits of yoga. Come and join the community yoga class, open to all ages and levels of experience. The class will be a light hearted, fun filled, family inspired class, and we invite you to be a part of this wonderful celebration. This class will be by donation, supporting the fundraising endeavours of our school. The class will be lead and instructed by registered and qualified local yoga teacher, Kylie Penny. Kylie's passion for yoga is sprinkled throughout the Strathbogie Ranges, with classes in the communities of Strathbogie and Ruffy. PLEASE BYO YOGA MAT, WATER BOTTLE, AND BE READY FOR LOTS OF SMILES! BIRTHDAYS FOR JUNE

Lion’s Club Public Speaking

Lion’s Club Benalla run a junior public speaking competition each year. Baddaginnie/Swanpool students have participated for the last two years. This year all of our students in year 3-6 will participate. Forms will go home next week about the competition.

The first round of the competition involves students travelling to Violet Town to deliver their speeches. Speakers in years 3-4 and 5-6 will then be chosen to represent the school in Benalla.

Mr. Clelland’s Room In class this week we learnt how to use the correct structure to write an information report. We learnt about using the correct tense and the importance of facts over opinions. The students are presently working on ways to present their reports. In Maths we started our unit on perimeter and area and will be using the playground as a measuring tool. In Science this week the students continued their exciting work on formulating mixtures to make rockets. Finally, we had a wonderful Winter Sports day on Thursday, with all the students showing great sportsmanship.

Ms. Fitz’s Congratulations to Dakoda Williams Peranbin Primary College Values award at the whole school assembly on Winter Sports Day. Well done Dakoda! It has been such a short week. This week at a glance: Letter Jj this week. Big Book: The Gingerbread Man Maths: Money, money money! Winter Sports Day on Thursday. Have a great weekend!

Elly and Jack came back very excited from their time at 15 Mile Creek and delivered their reflection at our whole school assembly confidently. Last Monday upon arriving at school on a FREEZING Strathbogie morning we found that one of our pipe fittings couldn't stand the cold and had split. The remaining water in our tank was saved by the quick work of Brendon Rowe, who replaced the fitting and checked our pump was still working. Thank you so much Brendon. Ms. Hanby’s Room The students of the Junior Room, Strathbogie have been busy again this week. We have been upleveling and practicing our editing skills as well as identifying and learning some WOW words. Did you know that there are so many different ways you can say "said"? How about 'mumbled', 'mentioned', 'yelled', 'groaned' and 'whispered'? In Maths, we have been looking at different ways we can transform a shape. If a shape slides, turns or flips it is still the same shape! Some feedback from Strathbogie students: "I wish we could've played all day and had longer time" - Jack "I loved playing with all the other people from the other campuses" – Wade "I liked playing soccer and learning the skills, but can we have a BBQ next time too?" - Bianca Ms Chapman and Mrs Week's Room We have been looking at inferring in our reading and continuing work on 'transformations' in Maths. In Art we looked at making topographic maps. This week all students worked hard to complete assessments.

Last week Samy attended the Leadership Camp at 15 mile Creek. His reflection about his time- Last week, I went to the 15 Mile Creek Leadership Camp with other students from Swanpool, Baddaginnie and Strathbogie Campuses. While at camp, my team the Hmm Echidnas, learned to build a massive, human sized bird nest. I became more confident and I made new friends at camp. I enjoyed bike riding, the meals, the people and the other activities.

Mrs. B’s Room The excitement and build up to the Winter Sports at Swanpool this week has made Thursday a highlight day for week with the VT P/1/2 class. Everyone showed excellent sportsmanship and had fun learning new soccer skills with their friends. The soccer game produced great teamwork and foot skills.
