Friday 31st August Term: 3 | Week: 7 From the Principal’s Desk. I was very excited to be able to ‘skype in’ to the assembly last week to hand out my Principal’s awards. I was required to be at a Principal’s Network Meeting for the day and I did not want to miss out on handing out the well-deserved awards. It was very exciting to try something I have never tried before and to have it work so successfully! Thank you Mr Corey and Mrs Bentham for helping this happen! SASS Week This week has been School Administrative and Supprot Staff Week (SASS) and we want to give a MASSIVE thank you to all of our SASS staff, who work to make our school as amazing as it is. We could not do without ANY of them and on behalf of the staff, I want to thank them all for the outstanding work they do each day. They all come to work with a smile on their face and a positive attitude and they are so highly valued by our students, staff and parents. THANK YOU! 2018 marks the 100th Anniversary of the legendary “ANZAC Spirit”. Braddock Public School has a very long and proud history of acknowledging and commemorating the courageous service of our Defence Forces to the Australian community each and every year on ANZAC and Remembrance Days. The school intends to mark this special anniversary in Term 4 at our Remembrance Day Assembly where we shall continue to express our respect and support for our nation’s current defence personnel and for our brave Fallen. The Director of Educational Leadership in our school’s region, Mrs Deb Summerhayes, has accepted our invitation to be our Guest Speaker on this extraordinarily special occasion, which will be held on Wednesday, November 7, commencing sharply at 10.15 a.m. and finishing as close to 11.00 a.m. as possible. As usual, on these special days, Braddock’s Student Leadership Team will proudly and respectfully run the assembly. The school wishes to invite all members of our school community to join us and so we are asking you (in advance) to please consider saving the date so that you can join us on November 7 in our School Hall.. Lest We Forget.

The 1S Super Learners Continued… In the year of 2018, there was a group of outstanding children who continually worked hard to achieve their learning goals. They attended an extraordinary school in a sunny, friendly suburb called Cranebrook. Each day they were faced with new learning that at times seemed a little bit scary. Intertextuality… literary value… digraphs… division… 3D objects… numerals… times tables… and the list went on. So much to learn in what felt like such a short amount of time. Can you see the dilemma? Then these outstanding children heard this new word called ‘GRIT,’ but the word meant nothing until they understood it’s meaning. Give it your all, Redo if necessary, Ignore giving up and Take time to do it right. They have learnt that mistakes make their brain grow and that they can pull themselves out of the learning pit when they are finding a new concept challenging. Stay tuned to see what happens next…

We have been lucky to have Ms Trimingham with us during literacy this week, she helps us to have a growth mindset and remember that we CAN do hard things. All students in 1S have been learning to reflect on their success during lessons as a learning intention is set, success criteria discussed and an opportunity is given for reflection. Have a look at some of the outstanding work and learning happening over in 1S:

PSSA Rugby League We wrapped up the PSSA Rugby League season last Friday and finished the season off with the boys versing Regentville Public School. We were fighting it out for 5th place with only nine players. The boys showed GRIT and determination by always chasing down players to make tackles and never giving up! They did happen to find the ONLY mud patch on the field….

Thank you to all the boys for an amazing season, some boys have never played footy before. They listened at training, faced each match with courage, developed some awesome skills and had lots of fun along the way! I would also like to extend a massive thank you to Mr Zac, who has brought an infinite amount of knowledge and experience to our team. We would not have been able to have such a successful season without him. Hopefully we can do it again next season! Miss Heterick

Fun at the BELL

This term is proving to be very exciting so far. Not only do we have some lovely turf in our outdoor play area but we have been learning about

minibeasts and insects over the past few weeks. This week we have started to learn about feelings and look forward to

showing some of our work in future Bradbits.
