FRIDAY FLYER Blessed Trinity Catholic School December 14, 2018 Follow us on Social Media: facebook/btschool @BTSocala From the Principal’s Desk Hello BT Families, We have had a really great day here at Blessed Trinity! Despite the weather, our staff and students did an amazing job sharing their Christmas spirit, both in their dress and in their very generous giving. Our first ever Christmas Dress Out Day was a huge success. It was so much fun to see all of the beautiful Christmas dresses, funny Christmas t-shirts, and really ugly Christmas sweaters. In order to dress out we asked students in grades K-5 to bring in an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots and we asked students in grades 6-8 to bring in a gift for a teenager. Our students filled Mrs. Vorwerk’s office! Below are a few pictures from our collection, but gifts just kept coming in all morning. If students weren’t able to get to the store, they could offer any monetary donation that will also go to Toys for Tots and our students and staff collected $674.75! Additionally, students in each grade could participate in an Ugly Sweater Contest during lunches. It was so much fun to see them on stage in their best “ugly wear”. We have some pictures of our “winners” in the Friday Flyer as well as a list of the winners by grade level. Father Pat has asked us to remind our Blessed Trinity Families about their Stewardship renewal. To date, 40% of Stewardship families from Blessed Trinity School have submitted their renewal paperwork. Our Parish Stewardship recommitment was the third week of November and this is a really important part of our church and our school. Thank you to those of you who have turned your paperwork in. Please continue to turn those forms into the Church Office. Looking ahead to next week, please note that next Wednesday, December 19 th is our last day before Christmas Break. Students will return on Thursday, January 3 rd . Next Wednesday, we will have our school Christmas Mass and all families are welcome to attend. Each grade level will be singing a song during Mass and it is such a beautiful way to celebrate together on our last day before vacation. Mass next Wednesday will start at 9:15 instead of 8:15. This will allow us to finish by 10:30 and move to the class Christmas parties from 10:30-noon, and then dismissal is at noon. To try and help with the signing in of volunteers after Mass, we will have sign in tables in the Church foyer prior to Mass. From 8:30- 9:00, we will have a table set up to allow you to sign in prior to the party. That way, once Mass is finished, you can go join your child in their classroom. If you do not sign in before Mass, you will be able to sign up in front of the Elementary School (for Middle School and Elementary) and in front of the Parish Hall (for Primary Students). Finally, as we close out the first of the year, be on the look-out for more information regarding Boosterthon. Our Boosterthon FunRun will take place on January 18 th and you will start seeing information on Facebook and via email in the next few weeks. Thank you all of an amazing first half of the year! We look forward to celebrating Christmas with you next week! Peace be with you, Megan Losito Click here for our school calendar Click here for our lunch menus

From the Principal’s Desk

Hello BT Families,

We have had a really great day here at Blessed Trinity!

Looking ahead to next week, please note that next Wednesday, December 19th is our last day before Christmas Break. Students will return on Thursday, January 3rd. From 8:30-9:00, we will have a table set up to allow you to sign in prior to the party.

Our Boosterthon FunRun will take place on January 18th and you will start seeing information on Facebook and via email in the next few weeks.

Thank you all of an amazing first half of the year! We look forward to celebrating Christmas with you next week!

Peace be with you,

Megan Losito

Habit 3: Put First Things First The first three habits build upon each other. Habit 1 says, “You are the driver, not the passenger.” Habit 2 says, “Decide where you want to go and draw a map to get you there.” Habit 3 says, “Get there! Don’t let roadblocks knock you off course.” One way to avoid roadblocks is to differentiate between things that are urgent and things that are important? Important – your most important things, your first things, activities that contribute to your mission and goals. (studying, writing that research paper, exercising, praying) Urgent – pressing things, in-your-face things, activities that demand immediate attention. (phone calls, social media, interruptions, other people’s problems) We live in a society that is addicted to urgency. It’s the NOW generation. Urgent things aren’t bad. The problem comes when we become so focused on urgent things that we put off important things that aren’t urgent. For example, we put off studying for our exams or writing that paper to answer our phone or send a Snapchat. Habit 3 teaches us that the better organized you are, the more you can accomplish. Look at everything you have to do and then prioritize, making sure your first things get done first. By planning ahead, you can usually stay on top of things. Control, balance and high performance are three indicators you are applying Habit 3.

From the Nurse’s Office

With the weather changing almost daily, please take the following precautions to keep your student healthy this winter:

- Eat healthy, including a good breakfast - Dress your student appropriately, taking into consideration the weather. - Cover your mouth when coughing and/or sneezing. - Wash your hands thoroughly and often. - Keep an eye out for vomiting, diarrhea or fever over 100 degrees. Students must be

vomit free, diarrhea free, and fever free for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school.

- Students missing 3 or more days of school due to illness will require a doctor’s note.

Lost and Found

Please write your student’s name in every piece of his or her clothing. With the changing weather, we are seeing more and more articles of clothing. We have many unclaimed items in the nurse’s office. If you are missing anything, please stop by. Lost and Found will be cleaned out during Christmas Break.
