Intro to Vac-Ex Equipment

• Vac-Ex Ltd started producing Vac-Ex units in 2008.

• Vac-Ex Ltd are currently in collaboration with Scottish Water and Thames Water in UK.

• Vac-Ex Australia are currently based out of Brisbane since April 2019.

• Allstar Infrastructure purchased the first machines from Vac-Ex Australia to service the Brisbane market in 2019.

• Allstar have a current stock of five (5) Vac-Ex Vacuum Units including both the T-Vac and Air-Vac models.

CASE STUDY

Client: Gold Coast City Council

Project: Valve & Hydrant Replacement Program

Scope: Expose Valve & Hydrants / Positive Service Location

Challenges:

• Working within Pedestrian & Traffic Zones.

• Risk of spraying slurry on parked vehicles / pedestrians with hydro lance.

• Working around live assets.

• Production line included 3 crews: Excavation, Connection & Reinstatement.

• Water & Slurry Disposal Fees.

CASE STUDY

Client: Gold Coast City Council

Project: Valve & Hydrant Replacement Program

Scope: Expose Valve & Hydrants / Positive Service Location

Value Added:• No requirement for traffic control resulting in less

disruption to the local community and homeowners.

• Dry excavation for employees to work in.

• Dust is mitigated in dry areas by utilising a debris skirt.

• No risk of spraying slurry.

• Open excavations backfilled immediately after valve/FH connection complete.

• No Water Fees

• No slurry – No Disposal Fees

• No down time for disposal of excavated material off-site

• No requirement to import backfill material.

• Easily transported and used by civil crews as required.

• Minimised 2 crews along production line.

CASE STUDY

Client/s: Fulton Hogan – QUU Sewerage Treatment Plant

Project: Sewerage Plant Upgrades

Scope: Positive Service Location

Challenges:

• Working within Brownfields Area (above & below infrastructure)

• Tight access areas.

• Contaminated spoil. No disposal off site allowed.

• Out-dated existing buried electrical cables

Page 13: Presentation Title: ALLSTAR INFRASTRUCTURE NON …

CASE STUDY

Client/s: Fulton Hogan – QUU Sewerage Treatment Plant

Project: Sewerage Plant Upgrades

Scope: Positive Service Location

Value Added

• Excavated material reused as backfill & cross contamination of material avoided.

• No requirement to build turkeys nests for drying out of slurry material associated with hydro excavation.

• Compact tracked machine was perfect for tight areas that trucks could not access

• Minimised risk of water ingress and cable damage when exposing electrical cable joints.

• No damage to above or below ground infrastructure.

Client: CPB

Project: Queensland Rail Cross River Rail

Scope: Positive Service Location

Page 16: Presentation Title: ALLSTAR INFRASTRUCTURE NON …

CASE STUDY

Client: Queensland Rail

Project: Cross River Rail

Scope: Positive Service Location

Challenges:

• Limited access along live rail corridor.

• Existing above ground rail assets (rail, rail bond lines) along narrow access.

• Only means for a truck to reach work zones was from outside of the rail corridor in most areas.

• Third party permits and approvals required to allow for large plant and truck access.

• Cost of replacing Ballast.

Page 17: Presentation Title: ALLSTAR INFRASTRUCTURE NON …

CASE STUDY

Client: Queensland Rail

Project: Cross River Rail

Scope: Positive Service Location

Value Added:

• No Council Permits Required.

• No Pedestrian Pathway Closures.

• No Train Station Car Park Closure.

• No Need for Traffic or Pedestrian Management.

• No Importation of Foreign Fill.

• Open Excavations Backfilled Immediately After Assets

• Positively Identified and As-Con Info Recorded.

• No Water Disposal Fees.

• No Damage to Existing Above or Below Ground Assets.

• No requirement for additional pothole backfill crew, resulting in less plant and personnel required to work in a live rail corridor.

Client Feedback:

“The Allstar crew certainty walked the walk with there small tracked vacuum unit. They got their machine into areas within a brownfields environment where our team didn’t think was possible. The advantages in utilising this equipment really is a no brainer”

Gerard McGuigan - Project Manager – Fulton Hogan (speaking about Vac-Ex equipment)

“Thank you Allstar Infrastructure for providing our project with a high quality, reliable and professional service. You always responded to our day to day challenges with providing the right solutions. I look forward to working with your team in the future”

Construction Manager – Monadelphous

“Vac-Ex equipment certainly proved its advantages with savings on water and disposals fees alone. There are a number of environmental challenges we face on these RAAF base projects however this equipment has mitigated the concern with utilisng water vacuum excavation units.”

Eamon Turner – Civil Supervisor – Shamrock Civil

“Thankfully we discovered this equipment, we can now non-destructively expose services in profile areas without the requirement of council permits, traffic or pedestrian management. We are all looking forward to mitigating access issues by utilizing this equipment”

Lee Towey - Civil Supervisor – CPB Cross River Rail (speaking of Vac-Ex equipment)
