Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational software

corporation headquartered in Redmond, Washington that develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of products and services

related to computing.

Started as their hobby in high school, programming on the original PDP-10 from the Digital Equipment Corporation.

• Microsoft is founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen; they sell BASIC, the first PC computer language program to MITS Computer, Microsoft's first customer

• IBM uses Microsoft's 16-bit operating system for its first personal computer.

• The company introduces Windows 3.1. Windows now has over 25 million licensed users.

1995

• In, 1995 Microsoft launch windows 95 and sell 1 million copies in 4 days

O Skype is proprietary Voice a overO IP service and software application.

O It developed into a platform with over 600 million users and was bought by Microsoft in 2011 for $8.5 billion.

O The service allows users to communicate with peers by voice using a microphone, video by using a webcam, and instant messaging over the Internet.

O Skype's original proposed name (Sky Peer-to-Peer) reflects this fact.

O Hotmail was a free web-based email service operated by Microsoft as part of Windows Live.

O It was recently replaced by the newer Outlook service by Microsoft.

O Hotmail was one of the first web-based email services, it was founded by Saber Bhatia and Jack Smith and launched in July 1996 as Hotmail.

O It was acquired by Microsoft in 1997 for an estimated $400 million, and shortly after, it was rebranded as "MSN Hotmail". The current version was released in 2011.

O Microsoft Windows is a series of graphical interface operating systems developed, marketed and sold by Microsoft.

O Microsoft introduced an operating environment named Window on November 20, 1985 as an add-on to MS-DOS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces (GUIs).

The Xbox is a video game console manufactured by Microsoft.

It was released on November 15, 2001 in North America, February 22, 2002 in Japan, and March 14, 2002 in Australia and Europe.

It was Microsoft's first foray into the gaming console market.

The integrated Xbox Live service launched in November 2002 allowed players to play games online with a broadband connection.

Xbox's successor, the Xbox 360, was launched in November 2005.

Bing is a web search engine (advertised as a "decision engine") from Microsoft.

Bing was unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on May 28,2009 at the All Things Digital conference in San Diego for release on June.

On July 29, 2009, Microsoft and Yahoo! announced a deal in which Bing would power Yahoo! Search.

Bing Available in 40 Languages.

Internet Explorer is a series of graphical web browsers developed by Microsoft and included as part of the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, starting in 1995.

It was first released as part of the add-on package Plus! for Windows 95 that year.

Later versions were available as free downloads, or in service packs, and included in the OEM service releases of Windows 95 and later versions of Windows.

The latest stable release is IE 10, with a new interface allowing for use as both a desktop application, and as a Windows 8 application.

SkyDrive is a file hosting service O that allows users to upload and sync files to a cloud

storage and then access them from a Web browser or their local device.

The service offers 7 GB of free storage for new users. Additional storage is available for purchase.

Users who signed up to Sky Drive prior to April 22, 2012 could opt-in for a limited time offer of 25 GB of free storage upgrade.

The service is built using HTML5 technologies.
