– Galvanically isolated CAN-interface acc. to ISO 11898
– Galvanically isolated inputs and outputs
Key Features
Overview of interfaces
– 16 digital inputs– 16 digital outputs
Housing
The compact housing is made of aluminum. It con-tains a top hat rail mount and a front cover with all interfaces for better overview in the control cabinet. The technician will note the convenience while wor-king at the bus cabling.
Clamps and cabling
The Remote-IO series uses 3-wire cabling for direct connection to sensors and actors, supplying them with power. In order to reduce the danger of false-wi-re harnessing the 3-wire clamps are coloured. If you wish to see the status of each channel, we can deliver the modules with LED-clamps.
LEDs and switches
All inputs and outputs can be monitored with the help of LEDs at the clamps. In addition to that, you can configure the baud rate and module address with HEX-switches at the front cover - easy and com-fortable.
Signal processing
Besides its inputs and outputs the DIO32 offers a po-werful micro-controller that handles data acquisition of sensors, control of actors and the processing of any CAN-data.
An important safety function is the DIO32‘s guar-ding capability which is fully integrated into the IO for network surveillance. Furthermore, there is a relay contact (changeover) as an additional safety measu-re. If there is an absence of guarding by the master registered, the module immediately goes into STOP-mode.
CAN-Interface
The integrated CAN-interface is designed in ac-cordance to DS301 and 401 for a flexible use in dif-ferent places and tasks in the CAN-bus network. All Sontheim CAN-interfaces comply to ISO11898.
Power supply
The DIO32 needs a power supply with 24V. Due to the polarity reversal protection the user is in no dan-ger of damaging the module by reversed power con-nection. Short surge peaks are also eliminated by an EMI wiring for the control section.
Highside and Lowside switch
All digital outputs can be fitted with a Highside or Lowside switch. Being Highside, the outputs togg-le the supply voltage to load. Being Lowside, they toggle to ground.
DIO32 is a digital 24V (opt. 12V) input and output mo-dule with 16 channels each. It is optimally suited for the use in CAN-networks. The device possesses the shortest conversion times and a high process reliability. That ma-kes it the best choice for continuous operation in com-plex machine networks.

Multi-IO– Compact aluminum housing with IP20 and an
integrated top hat rail mount
– Safety functions for a high process safety
– Easy access to all interfaces
– Own intelligence for complex CAN-networks
– Clamps pluggable and lockable
– Signal delay less than 200 μ-seconds
– Galvanically isolated CAN-interface acc. to ISO 11898
– Galvanically isolated inputs and outputs
Key Features
Overview of interfaces
– 16 digital inputs– 16 digital outputs– 8 analogue inputs– 8 analogue outputs– 4 24-Bit encoder interfaces– 1 CAN-interface
In order to reduce the danger of false-wire harnessing the 3-wire clamps are coloured. If you wish to see the status of each channel, we can deliver the modules with LED-clamps. Please bear in mind that those are suited for digital channels only.
LEDs and switches
All inputs and outputs can be monitored with the help of LEDs at the clamps. In addition to that, you can configure the baud rate and module address with HEX-switches at the front cover - easy and com-fortable.
Signal processing
Besides its inputs and outputs the Multi-IO offers a powerful micro-controller that handles data acquisi-tion of sensors, control of actors and the processing of any CAN-data.An important safety function is the Multi-IO‘s guar-ding capability which is fully integrated into the IO for network surveillance.
Processor
The CPU module can be extended. It is a IEC61131 programmable device, enabling you to adapt it to your level of process complexity.
Power supply
The Multi-IO needs a power supply with 24V.
Being Lowside, they toggle to ground..
The CANopen module Multi-IO is a powerful device for handling digital and analogue signals. It incorporates 56 channels of different communication channels. The de-vice possesses the shortest conversion times and a high process reliability. That makes it the best choice for con-tinuous operation in complex machine networks.

DS301 and DS401
- Fast inputs and outputs, short signal delay
- CAN baud rate up to 1Mbit
- Compact aluminum housing with integrated
DIN rail mounting
- Numerous expansion possibilities
Key Features
Overview of interfaces
– 16 digital inputs– 16 digital outputs– 8 analogue inputs– Many expansion modules
Master module and CAN-interface
The master module is the basis of the eControl IO-module and is required in each constellation. The entire IO system is controlled by an integrated micro-controller, while already 16 digital outputs, 16 digi-tal inputs, 2 analog outputs and 2 analog inputs are integrated. The module has an LED status indicator to show the status of the module and the switching states of the digital IO‘s. As an interfaces for data ex-change, it has two RJ45 ports for the CAN bus which allows an easy and fast connection. Via DIP switch the module ID and baud rate of the CAN bus can be set conveniently.
High flexibility through individual expansion op-
tions
An expansion interface enables the connection of up to 6 IO modules. The modules and the order can be freely selected. The addressing of the expansion modules is performed automatically and the mas-ter module detects the plugged in module and the addressing automatically.
As extension options we provide currently a motor module, analog module, digital module or tempera-ture module.
Rugged interfaces
The used Phoenix clamps ensure a simple and ext-remely robust connection that makes the module in combination with the robust aluminum housing very durable and reliable.
eControl as a master with CODESYS V3
The PLCs of the eControl family are equipped with numerous communication interfaces, such as CAN,Ethernet, USB and serial interfaces. The PLCs have powerful CPUs which are optimized for the CODESYStarget and web visualization. The robust and com-pact design in combination with CODESYS V.3 as a development environment open up a variety of ap-plications in industrial environments.
The key to slim fieldbus networks and efficient process automation is flexibility. The user must be able to cope with rapidly changing process requirements with exis-ting resources. The eControl IO-module was developed specifically for the use in machine networks and with its numerous expansion modules it provides many applica-tions in industrial environments and is the ideal supple-ment for all PLCs of the eControl family.

Key Features
Overview of interfaces
– 32 Digital inputs
Clamps and cabling
A very important feature of the IDI32 in its different versions is the really sturdy way in which the connec-tion of actors and sensors is handled. 24V, data and GND have separate connectors (3-wire-connection). We use Phoenix clamps for simple and rugged con-nections. Every IO-block of the device is galvanically isolated and has its own power supply. Thus, all IDxx modules can be used in safety-relevant environ-ments. An example for a typical application is the CAN-handling of emergency-stop circuits like guard doors.
CAN-interface
Two RJ45 connectors at the front cover facilitate the connection with other CAN-participants over ether-net patch cable. The IDI32 can also be used in a de-centralised CAN network.
LEDs and switches

EC-DIO32– Configurable inputs and outputs
– Can be used in CAN and EtherCAT networks
– Power supply of each IO block
– Compact aluminum housing with IP20 and top hat rail
– Safety functions for process reliability
– Easy access to all interfaces
– Signal delay of less than 400 μ-seconds
– Analogue and digital diagnostics
Key Features
Housing
The compact aluminum housing contains a top hat rail mount and a front cover with all interfaces for better overview in the control cabinet. The techni-cian will note the convenience while working at the bus cabling.
Cabling
All sensors and actors can be connected directly to the module. There are connectors for 8 data lines, power supply and 0V for each of the 4 blocks on the module, making the cabling very sturdy and resistant to shock and vibration. Every IO-block is galvanically isolated and obtains an own power supply. Thus, you can even use the EC-DIO32 for safety-relevant appli-cations like emergency-stop circuits for guard-doors.
Fieldbus-interfaces
Our latest IO-module provides 2 RJ45 connectors for EtherCAT and CAN as an easy possibility for connec-ting other devices via ethernet patch cable. With its multi-fieldbus detection and the two connectors the module can be used in different places and tasks in the CAN-bus network.
With its 32 configurable channels the EC-DIO32 you can deploy it in numerous and changing applications. You are also free to use either CAN or EtherCAT - the modu-le will recognise the different fieldbusses automatically. The device possesses the shortest conversion times and a high process reliability. That makes it the best choice for continuous operation in complex machine networks.
Signal processing
Due to the configuration of each block as a digital in-put, digital output or analogue input there are many areas of deployment. You can choose by your indivi-dual number and type of IOs about the configuration of the module, saving costs and cabling. It is even possible to address every block on its own.
Microcontroller
Besides its inputs and outputs the EC-DIO32 offers a powerful micro-controller that handles data acquisi-tion of sensors, control of actors and the processing of any CAN and EtherCAT-data. An important safety function is the guarding capability which is fully in-tegrated into the IO for network surveillance. Fur-thermore, there is a relay contact (changeover) as an additional safety measure. If there is an absence of guarding by the master registered, the module im-mediately goes into STOP-mode.
Diagnostic features
Analogue measurement of ower supply at the blocks and single channels as well as a digital monitoring of outputs are implemented in the device.

In addition, great emphasis was placed on an extremely robust and durable design to meet the current safety standards. The control device is designed for the use outside the cabin of a vehicle and is vibration tested. A temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and the compact housing with protection class IP69K are ensuring an extensive protection.
Microcontroller and use cases
A powerful 32bit microcontroller allows even the most demanding applications and thanks to the built-in NAND flash memory of up to 16GByte amounts of data can be stored. Thus COMhawk can be used both, in the automotive as well as in the au-tomation industry for a variety of communication and diagnostic tasks such as a communication inter-face, gateway, event logger or telemetry node.
COMhawk is a control device for communication and diagnostic tasks. In addition to the standard interfaces such as CAN and Ethernet the module also offers a wi-reless Wi-Fi interface. The variety of interfaces and the extremely rugged IP69K housing opens the module va-rious fields of applications in the automotive and auto-mation area.
Comprehensive software support
The freely programmable and real-time capable ECU system can be programmed by the user application specifically. Over a configurable data interface for ex-ample an individual configuration of the interfaces or the structure of an application could be solved expe-ditiously. Furthermore control loops can be mapped easily over an integrated script interpreter. Another advantage is the reusability of this type of program-ming, whereby future work can even be more effici-ent. The user profits from a complete development environment.
Integrated webserver
The integrated webserver interface allows more ef-ficient diagnostics and maintenance practices and is a standard part of COMhawk™. Diagnostic and main-tenance tasks are easily available locally and remote-ly in compliance with appropriate security measures (e.g. firewall). COMhawk™ is able to interface with any Wi-Fi enabled device with a browser.

eSys-IDC4E1– Powerful 32bit microcontroller
– 1x Ethernet, 10/100Mbit
– 4x CAN acc. to DIN ISO 11898, galv. isolated
– Active resistance measurement
– Integrated Error-frame-detection
– Robust aluminum housing
– Incl. standardized SAE J2534 API
Key Features
Interfaces and integrated diagnostic functions
In addition to four galvanically isolated CAN chan-nels eSys-IDC4E1 provides one LAN connection to transfer the data to a higher-level computer. For mo-nitoring the CAN bus an active resistance measure-ment and an error-frame-detection is implemented. This feature allows surveillance and monitoring of a CAN network. eSys-IDC4E1 possesses an own logic for detecting error frames and counting them up in a specific internal memory area. Thus is used for fin-ding intermittent errors like the falsified messages of a CAN participant.
Standardized SAE J2534 API
The Sontheim pass-thru API is supplied as a standard interface with eSys-IDC4E1. Thus, the module can be used for applications based on J2534. Further high-er level protocols can be easily implemented on de-mand.
eSys-IDC4E1 allows the connection of different CAN busses over IP networks. Therefore the high performant CAN-to-Ethernet Gateway provides one LAN connec-tion and four galvanically isolated CAN interfaces. In ad-dition, the module provides a variety of measurement and diagnostic functions in machine fieldbus systems.
Software architecture
The software architecture of the CAN module con-sists of a host device structure in which a x86 PC-sys-tem as a hosts use the module as a device for access to the CAN bus. For communication between host and device Ethernet is used. The communication takes place via IP and a proprietary, on UDP based communication protocol. For identification (Discover) of the CAN interfaces over LAN, the process according to ISO 13400 is used. The firmware of the CAN module is composed of a main thread, which handles the CAN communica-tion and is also able to handle the transport layer communication protocols (e.g. J1939-21/J1939-81, ISO 15765), and a diagnostic thread for a self-and CAN-diagnostic. All non-related services to the di-rect communication of the CAN module, such as the configuration of the bridging or CAN-diagnostics are handled over the so-called „toolbox“ protocol. The order of the received message at the host interface is the same order as on the physical bus, regardless whether the message was sent or received. Thus, an extremely high-performant communication is gua-ranteed at low latency.

ePC– Atom-CPU with passive cooling
– Link2Go: Extension modules can be linked to the ePC with the basis module being untouched, like a fieldbus coupling device
– Various interface like CAN, Ethernet, I/Os, CFast, DVI and USB
– IP20 full metal housing for optimal EMV protection
– Software-Tools for all CAN-bus tasks
Key Features
Main technical advantages
There are several different processor types of the ATOM family available. The chipset is known for a high energy efficiency and little heat waste. It has 512 MB to 2 GB RAM onboard for small to complex ope-rations. Instead of a usual HDD the ePC uses CFast which is the faster successor of Compact Flash – the system can also be booted over this interface. The ad-vantage is a data transfer speed of up to 3 GBit/sec. Of course, all CFast cards can be purchased via Sont-heim. A full metal housing together with the specific memory and CPU provides optimal EMV-capabilities and passive cooling event at high temperatures.
Link2Go – Expand your PC!
Modern automation applications require efficien-cy and the flexibility to adapt to changing environ-ments in an individually matching way. Link2Go is a concept of adding extension modules quickly and conveniently to the ePC. However, the basic unit re-mains as it is and the user can change the modules later on if necessary. The range of the planned ex-tensions varies from touch displays and bus couplers to hard disk drives and serial interfaces. There could even customer-specific modules be created. Link2Go – your personal embedded solution for the price of standard components.
EPC is a modular embedded platform for being used in all areas of the automation sector. The design principle of bus-coupling devices allows extensions while the ba-sic system remains untouched.
Interfaces
The ePC incorporates many interfaces for a maxi-mum of flexibility already in its basic version without extensions (Link2Go). There are CAN, Ethernet (Ether-CAT-capable), digital inputs and outputs, DVI and USB available, allowing tasks such as PLC, CAN-Bus master or slave, signal processing and many more applications. An integrated CFast interface like an USB stick thought for data logging and even booting the system.

Panel-PC8000
– Robust terminal for machine control
– Powerful and energy-saving ATOM-CPU
– Extension slots for individual adaptations
– Wall-mount arm for flexible usage
Key Features
Equipment and display
Its components are similar to the MobiCAN. A 1.1 GHz ATOM processor provides computing power at low energy consumption. There are 512 MB RAM available as well as an integrated SD-card with 2 GB for applications. The terminal contains a control and display panel for visualizing data and operating soft-ware tools. Consequently, Panel-PC 8000 is an ideal HMI.
Interfaces
The terminal provides 2 CAN-channels with M12 plugs. External periphery like mouse or keyboard are simply connected via USB2.0. It provides an Ethernet port via M12 with a bandwidth of 100 MBit.
Flexibility via PCI extensions
The two extension slots enable an integration of additional extensions. There are many different ver-sions of extension cards available, much like our IPC-4: CAN, FireWire, digital and analogue inputs and outputs, Profibus and many more functions can be integrated for a customer-specific solution. Panel-PC 8000 can therefore be used as a standard-HMI or as an individually tailored control system.
Panel-PC 8000 combines the flexibility of our industrial PCs with a rigid control and display panel. Due to its ro-bust design, it is highly suited for machine control and HMI purposes.
Robust design
HMIs in production facilities might be exposed to temperature changes, splash water and mechanical forces. Panel-PC 8000 is designed to withstand such effects with the help of a robust design. No water can enter the housing. All connectors have an inward barrier. The foil keyboard with extra-large buttons is made for bigger gloves. Finally, a wall mount arm can be used for having the terminal mounted outside of a control cabinet.

SMC100 is a stepper motion controller for bipolar 2-pha-se stepper motors. Similar to VC105 and MC105 the controller offers some functions for configuration and safety. You will benefit from an integrated logic module for configuring and saving operating data.
Operation modes
You can switch between full, half and micro-step. There is an incremental encoder with a resolution of 16 Bit available as well.
Safety first
The current limit can be configured and saved as a basis value, avoiding errors in the calculation. Like all our controlling devices SMC100 also contains an emergency-stop function which is activated as soon as it registers a lack of bus communication.

Evo Print
Technically advanced!
– 300dpi at a printing speed of 180m/min
– Active velocity compensation and a detection of the current printing direction
– Assembly in machine or on moving axes
– Printing of text, 1D & 2D barcodes as well as graphics
– No changes to production process
Key Features
Integration
You can integrate the EvoPrint into your production line without changing it - the printing system requi-res neither an additional process step nor an extra PC. Consequently, you will save process time and costs.
Printing
At a printing speed of 3m/sec you will reach a reso-lution of 300 dpi, making EvoPrint faster than most other devices. A diagonal arrangement of print heads allows a print height of 50mm per line. You are abso-lutely free in choosing the printed content. The sys-tem is capable of printing text, barcodes, data matrix or graphics.
Example for a system integration
EvoPrint is a TIJ 2.5-based industrial printing system for the quick and precise printing on different surfaces. Key advantages are its different inks for changing print me-dia, a high quality at high velocities and an easy integra-tion into existing processes.
Area of application
Due to a very compact design, MobiCAN can be inte-grated into processes in many packaging and hand-ling processes. Moreover, it can be assembled stati-cally or moving on 2 axes. Have it mounted in a 90° angle for printing on packages from left and right.
Velocity compensation
Printing systems face great challenges as soon as they have to manage changes in speed or direction of printing. An active and fieldbus-controlled com-pensation of both accelerating and decelerating avo-ids stretching or rupture of the printed image.
Direction monitoring
More complex production processes often lead to rapid changes in the movement of the objects that shall be printed upon. This is especially true of the pa-ckaging industry. In order to print only once on the media there is a direction monitoring implemented.
Control
EvoPrint is connected to a user-interface via LAN/Ethernet. You are free to use EtherCAT, CAN, standard Ethernet or incremental encoders for controlling it.

CANexplorer 4– User-defined test setups with graphic elements and
Drag & Drop function
– Receive, process, transmit and abstract raw data
– J1939 and CANopen protocol support
– Modular design with extension modules
– Import and export of signal databases
Key Features
Data processing
CANexplorer 4 offers various functions for processing CAN-data, e.g. classical text-based traces, graphs, bar graphs, LEDs, filters and triggers. Generating a test set-up can be carried out by connecting different functional elements via ‘Drag & Drop’. This enables the software to consequently display complex pro-cesses in a visual and common manner.
Visualization
You can adapt the data visualization by defining trig-gers and filters. It is also possible to take an active part in the bus communication and generate and transmit messages that are also shown in a visualiza-tion. Have your telegrams sent manually, fully auto-matic or via trigger.
Data abstraction
Use an integrated protocol abstraction for automa-tically interpreting data to CANopen and J1939. The CAN-data is then available as pre-processed and ‘rea-dable’ information. Further protocol stacks can easily be added with updates. All proprietary protocols and Raw CAN-data can be processed with a manual sym-bol editor. This tool is used for defining symbols and translating the payload of a CAN-frame into compre-hensible values.
Modular, intuitive, efficient – CANexplorer 4 is a com-pletely new developed field bus-analyzing software which represents the huge know-how in working with CAN-networks in complex machines and vehicles. The new generation obtains a significantly enhanced range of functions and an improved handling. This makes the CANexplorer 4 a very intuitive and powerful tool.
Parallel processes
CANexplorer 4 obtains a multi-thread support for parallel usage next to other applications running on a PC and the visualization of various modules at the same time.

– Different diagnostic modes depending an experience-level of the user
– Easy adaptation an high flexibility at creating applications due to modular concept
– Pre-defined functions of the program flow blocks
– Different visualisation tools for the user interface
– ODX-editor for creating own ODX-files
Key Features
Intuitive handling
All diagnostic applications and surfaces are created via „Drag&Drop“. The vehicle parameters are then vi-sualized via graphs, tachometers, bar graphs etc. The latest release also includes a 3D graph for additional diagnostic perspectives. You can see 3 different lay-ers of your diagnostic values at the same time for a target performance comparison with scan of diffe-rences between all values.
Guided diagnostics
You can access a pool of ECU data without any need for experience with ECU communications. Instead, the user is guided via fault tree to the cause of an error or non-defined status. MDT offers all means for doing in-detail expert diagnostics or guided ones for inexperienced users.
The M.D.T. (Modular Diagnostic Tool) is an innovati-ve and comfortable software for creating all kinds of service applications for vehicles up to End-of-Line programming (EoL). Another field of application is measuring and analyzing machine data in any machine network, like metering valves, speed or fuel levels. There are numerous possibilities for visualization and different application flow charts, which enables. A major advan-tage is an abstraction of ECU-communication into ODX and an intuitive operating of the program without the need for in-depth programming-experience.
MDT - your personal graphical repair shop
The MDT graphical programming allows service tech-nicians to integrate their field-gained knowledge into the diagnostic application. Again, they don’t need programming experiences. This makes the analysis of data and eliminating errors much faster and more intuitive. You can add tool bars, buttons, menus and functions and have them allocated in a way that suits your requirements most. As branding becomes more and more important, you can even adapt it comple-tely according to your Corporate Identity.

MDT Service Cloud
– Easy exchange of diagnostic application data (upload and downloads)
– Maintenance of session logs, vehicle record information, HEX files, reports, etc.
– Including server hosting
– High data security through HTTPS logging and SSL/TLS encryption
– Direct connection to the ERP system
Key Features
Fast data exchange and update tool
The MDT Service Cloud enables an interactive data exchange of your diagnostic application at any time and from any location. It was implemented for an easier and more effective diagnostic analysis in the Modular Diagnostic Tool (MDT). An Update Tool ena-bles updates of the diagnostic application which can be downloaded and installed. In addition, out of the diagnostic application itself, data can specifically be up- or downloaded. Thus, for example, session logs, vehicle record information, reports, HEX files, etc. can be loaded or saved in the cloud. The transmitted data formats and contents are freely definable.
Automated interface for ERP system
The MDT Service Cloud is a prefabricated system and can be linked directly with the internal ERP system of your company and be adapted and integrated to the requirements of the customer. Thus the required maintenance is significantly reduced and all data ex-change and updates can be managed directly from the ERP system. This relieves the administrative bur-den and allows, among other things a centralized license management and automated processes. Furthermore, the administration of the diagnostic information can also be done manually using an FTP server.
The MDT Service Cloud enables a comfortable monito-ring and maintenance of diagnostic data. Updates of the diagnostic application can be downloaded and installed via update tool worldwide. Moreover data can also be exchanged and analyzed specifically out of the diag-nostic application.
Server hosting for local and in-house infrastruc-
ture

CLC-M Communication
Lifecycle
Manager
– Management of all fieldbus-related data ranging from specification to release
– Development, visualisation and maintenance of communication interfaces in ECUs
– Full description of the dataflow between and within ECUs
– Simple connection with the Sontheim MDT
Key Features
Data lifecycle
CLC-Manager focusses on a comprehensive visuali-zation and editing of all communication-related pro-cesses and definitions in ECUs. The goal is to achieve an acceleration of ECU development as well as a sim-ple and reproducible working with ECU communica-tion data. There are four main areas covered by the software:- Definition of requirements- Implementation of data and processes- Test and evaluation- Releases and export into diagnostic applications
Requirements
Both a vague definition of the communication inter-faces and the vehicle / machine structure are listed in this section. Such a pool of information is kept in a format that is independent from any protocol. It is therefore a data collection for later editing or already a bibliography of device and process data.
Implementation
The implementation section contains all compo-nents for ECU software developers and diagnostic authors. There is a project view integrated for editing ODX-files, style sheets and test environments as well as verifying sources. The protocol and vehicle view enables a convenient handling of ECUs and their cor-responding communication.
CLC-Manager is a development environment for the management of fieldbus-based data. The data format is based on ODX. All functions within the development of applications are covered, starting with the organization of ECU-data, going on to monitoring the physical and logical connections between different ECUs. This way, it is possible to organize, edit and handle the complete lifecycle of communication data.
CLC-Manager offers different layers for a better over-view and clear picture of the superior and inferior objects in the ECU communication. In addition to that it is also possible to work on software versions, protocols, busses and tasks. A detail and table view provides search fields, navigation tools, copy and paste and other functions for making the work at ECUs convenient and avoiding mistakes.
Test
There is a test view integrated for testing the crea-ted communication services on the fieldbus. It is also used for verifying specifications and protocols. The user can arrange the test view and content in a way that suits his own setups. Similar to the MDT, the CLC-Manager can be adapted according to individual requirements.
– ECU development and tests– Service at fieldbus-based systems with comparison and
revision of different releases– Visualisation of the communication flow in machines or

Protocol- Stacks
– Very performant and stable programming
– Modular design
– Individual adjustments easy to implement
Key Features
Standard based and proprietary
A performant programming and clearly defined in-terfaces are essentially important for the creation of protocol stacks. Based on standards and proprietary customer-specific requirements that set the rules of communication, the Sontheim Industrie Elektronik GmbH has already developed several stacks for vari-ous application areas.
Know-How with different communication protocols
For implementing your customized solution we can fall back on the already-implemented stacks such as DeviceNet, J1939-21 including address claiming, J1939-73 (DM1 and DM2), KWP 2000, UDS, CANopen slave and master, to support you optimally. Due to our extensive experience in the development of pro-tocol stacks and our modular software architecture, we can implement at any time individual and prop-rietary protocol stacks and integrate it into our soft-ware products.
Various microcontroller platforms
Our protocol stacks were often ported by us on va-rious hardware platforms and microcontrollers, such as PowerPC, ColdFire MCF548x, Infineon XC164CS, Atmel AT89C51CC03C ARM7 LPC2458, Star12, HC12.
Performant IEC 61131-3 CAN stack (CODESYS)
For the IEC 61131-3 programming system we offer currently CODESYS in version 2.3 high-performant CAN stacks for J1939 and CANopen and CAN based drivers for many μController.
Our Protocol-Stacks are high-performant and exactly build for you. Thanks to the modular architecture and our extensive experiences, we guaranty a fast and opti-mal implementation.
– PC-side use in their own software – ECU libararies
Possible use-cases
This, in addition to the CODESYS standard configu-rators (e.g. for CANopen) and also customized solu-tions (e.g. for J1939) can be used. In the future our CANopen and J1939 stacks will also work with CODE-SYS V3. Therfore our CAN stack and configurators on the CODESYS automation platform integrate fully in the CODESYS system architecture.
Real time for critical applications
In the field of automation technology we employ our CAN stacks in real-time environments and so we can offer as a example control PCs, which are suitable for critical applications, such as complex systems.
From the application to the hardware
Of course, it is also possible to implement proprietary protocols. We have already several basics by different customer-specific projects, which have been success-fully implemented. PC side as well as in the embed-ded sector, we have specific know-how. In addition, a quick integration is facilitated by the modular design in your system and we like to develop a custom solu-tion for you. With the Sontheim Flash boot loader we offer a tailor-made solution for your system. Our fast and efficient solutions are already in many systems in use and allow a reliable boot up process, as well as software programming. In addition to the stacks, the HAL and the drivers for hardware, you receive also hardware components such as CAN-interfaces and industrial PCs and control units.
